Spyker sports car and it's V8

I saw in another thread the talk about the Spyker sports car and it’s V8. There was talk this V8 was from the 4.2 S4. I always like looking to see what Audi will do from one motor to another to pull more power. In the case of the spyker. It looks like they used the V8 from the S8. The spyker came out in late 2000 the same time Audi had the 360hp V8 S8 motors. Then the spyker a few years later came out with a TT version. This TT V8 looks like the same TT V8 offered in the 2003 TT V8 RS6.

The Audi non S4 V8 was made all the way till 2007. Then the change over to FSI came in.

their le mans V8s were very interesting

A couple images I found of the engine on the webz.

To me, that looks a lot like the BHF found in the S4. Wasn’t the 360hp S8 motor belt driven?

I wonder if spyker started with S8 motor and then switch to something more like the BHF?

There is a Top Gear review on the Spyker which does mention an Audi 360hp motor tuned by Spyker to 400hp. Also the original C8 does pre-date the BHF.

Not that I’m a fan of VF Engineering, but they happen to make a supercharger kit for the Spyker, and they mention that it’s the same engine as the S8 and S4? Huh? Looks like basically the same kit as the S4, but 2x the price.

Just 15 more posts and you can edit.

They’re probably just following whatever V8 motors Audi has at the time. They clearly couldn’t have used the S4 4.2 in 2000 because it wasn’t even available. That’s a chain drive motor. The S8 was a belt drive from what I remember.

In those pictures I don’t see anything that would make me think it’s different then the generic S4 motor pictures I’ve seen. It looks like the same down pipes just bent different.

We’ve rebuilt a Spyker 0A3 trans before

Was there anything different than a normal Audi transmission?

After further inspection I’ve noticed these are not AWD. Perhaps that’s where they’ve been able to gain the extra hp from?
