Rough night for the Hawks. I don’t follow hockey regularly - so am I missing something, or are the Hawks just terrible at capitalizing on power plays??
Bruins are taking it to em. Like Eddie o says time and space and hawks are giving bruins waaay too much of both. Hawks are def having difficulty on the pp.
Buddy of mine doesn’t watch much either and he commented how the Bruins looked to be on pp even when both full strength. He’s spot on.
Fortunately for Chicago, Bruins can go for a nap here and there, so it will be interesting to see if Chicago can storm back. Reality is they split the first two, and will likely split the second two…and the third two, resulting in game 7 goodness.
Hawks also got shafted in game two with that no goal call. Would have been 2-0 at that point and probably no OT/loss. Ref said “intent” was to blow whistle. Puck clearly crossed line before whistle was blown.
Hawks playing way too soft. The checking/hitting that happened game 1 is not there anymore. Shaw has been a ghost after that game 1 hit festival. Hossa loss yesterday was big. Quenneville was doing his typical line change jumbling but was out coached yesterday. Hawks can’t win a faceoff for shit on away ice, the PP is embarassing and predictable, and our top guys are not producing.
The game comes down to depth players and I think Julien might have come up with the right combo with Paille, Kelly, and Seguin. Team hasn’t looked back since that line combo adjustment after first period of game 2 where Hawks outshot them 18-3.
I hope that they do make the appropriate adjustments on the PP and they get some bodies in front of Rask. He wasn’t really tested with traffic and we need to get to him early.
Playoff hockey at its best. Now some will say sloppy defense, too much scoring opps, blah, blah, blah. They would be correct, but the hawks are best when the game is free flowing end to end. Hell, even J.R. made mention of getting back to closer 2-1 game style. F that. They do need to tighten up and the B’s will regain better form. But from a spectator/fan that was a very exciting and enjoyable game to watch.
