Stanley Cup 2016

Wow that guy is intense.

I’m pretty particular about play-by-play announcers. I dislike most of them, especially when it comes to basketball (NBA, not pussy college hoops). I like the announcers who stick to the action and don’t get distracted with side talk. ESPN is perhaps the worst offender - their NBA guys/girl (Mike Breem and Jeff Van Gundy stand out) literally have full-blown conversations, and the actual play-calling is an afterthought. Drives me mad.

The NBC hockey guy is the exception - he sticks to calling the game and makes it exciting. Jim Durham was his NBA equivalent (the one who famously called MJ’s “shot” against the Cavs).

Wayne Larevy (sp?) before defection to Greenbay.

I forgot about him. What a traitor for going to Green Bay lol.

He was pretty good on WGN back in the day, though I always preferred Neil Funk. I used to mute the TV and play his broadcasts on the radio during the Bulls’ glory years.

I think most hockey play by play guys do that. Both sides of the border. It’s one of those games that needs it and it’s flying at 30 mph most of the time so it’s hard not to. Basketball a guy can walk up the court in 21 seconds before he passes, shoots or does anything. It’s so yawny.

Football is a quick 8 second blast and then 35 seconds of sleep.

Hockey is solid. Probably 2/3 action 1/3 standing around…and the action is legit.

I love Bob Cole, although he annoys me when he says ‘De-Troy-It’ and he has let ‘score’ slip in once in a while.

Pretty lame game 7 for fan with no rooting preference. Stars getting dominated.

I want St Louis to win that. Dislike seguin

So Pittsburgh Tampa in the east and St Louis San Jose? in the west

Pretty funny…no favourites really left. Good to see new blood get a crack.

Pens are blue bloods

really they’re perennial chokers

have a looksee…

Two Game 7 blowouts. I think the Blues go all the way.

And the Hawks will be back next year better than ever 8)

wonder who they’ll trade away this summer. In keeping with tradition.

True…salary cap is a bitch. Not always much choice but to get rid of players. Saad the biggest loss from previous (could argue sharp) but reloaded with panarin which worked out pretty good.

They will be a favorite again.

Not unless they get rid of the horrible Bickell contract (4 mill) which might mean losing shaw at same time Bc no one wants Bickell by himself. he is a shell of former self and spent most of year in Rockford.

Also need to address the huge deficiencies on the blue line. Losing oduya might have been bigger loss than saad and sharp as he solidified 2 solid d-pairings last year. Quenneville had to rely on the fossil Rosival and several rookies this year. Van riemsdyk is not a 3/4 dman. Not yet.

Pokka/Forsling and this KHL stud Kempny will all see time on D next year.
