I developed a clunking sound in the left front, when I looked to see what it could be I found oil. It seems the banjo fitting came loose at the top of the shock. Is there a way I can fix this in house? I have access to a nitrogen tank and shock fill kit. Im just wondering if it will need a full rebuild now that it has no oil and has been driven? Im new to rebuildable dampers.
For sure, it’s going to have to be rebuilt at this point. As to the specifics of how, I’m not sure. I to have the Ohlins suspension and I just recently sent mine to Feal to have rebuilt.
I wish I would have thought of this thread when I did it. Today I tore into my shock and rebuilt the left front that leaked all the oil at the fitting for the resi hose. It was actually really easy, Im just waiting on my wife to get back to use her car to run into work to use the nitrogen to re charge. Ill post up my results after its back in the car. Ill be doing the other 3, so maybe Ill do a writeup then.
Successful rebuilt and back in the car. Very very easy. If you can do a carbon cleaning you can handle rebuilding your ohlins motorsports. Photos and writeup coming with the balance of the rebuild.
