stealership

Audi is supposed to be carrying on the mantra of underpromising and overdelivering right. Well sometimes they’re the same old stealership as every other marque.

Somehow, my emergency tow port cover disappeared.

This stupid thing:

So I went to Audi and was told $30 for the cover, $30 to have it finished. A week to get the part, a week at the body shop.

It was a week to get the part, a month at the body shop, $35 for the part and $60 to have it finished.

Boo Hoo…no biggie but it went so aggravatingly retarded when I attempted to leave. The parts guy called over to the service woman asking if they had anyone who could put it on. She said she did. I of course was picturing in my head a service guy following me out, taking the 10 seconds to clip the thing in then leaving. She asked for my keys…I quizzically handed her my keys and she said sorry yes to bring it into the service bay I have to do up a work order. I said you don’t have to bring it into the bay to snap this little thing into place. She said we do because it’s so cold out we can’t risk breaking it. I said actually I’ll just be on my way and went to reach for my keys and plastic cap. She said ok, do you want me to see if I can get someone to do it outside for you. I said sure. So the guy showed up outside, fumbled with it a bit indicating that he’d never put one on before either, it was done, I thanked him and left. I feel as though I’d thwarted their attempt to charge me money to clip a cap into place, which I was intent on doing myself prior to the parts guy calling over to the service woman.

Are lots of folks so much of a pushover that they’ll allow Audi to do up a work order to be charged money for a little plastic cover to be clipped into place?

I am surprised the piece didn’t come painted. I know at my Lexus dealer, all the covers like that are painted right from Toyota. And a week to receive the part is really horrible. My local Audi dealer has been great to me, I usually have parts the next day. I’ve heard horror stories from some Audi dealers. Seems like some are real hit n miss.

It sounds like they sent either a rookie tech out to snap it in. He prolly hasn’t ever had to do it between his oil changes.

Also, the work order is for insurance coverage when they pull the car into a bay… at least at my dealer it is. When I use a lift for my car, I have to have a work order created for the insurance.

Who says they were going to charge you? And why didn’t you just diy it in the first place?

Where’d the thing go missing?

Fuck sakes I get rear ended this evening; 100 wasted lol it’s gone again!

Hahahaha

That sucks that you got rear ended but that’s hilarious that the fucking thing is gone again.

My rear bumper is a bit worse for wear but the exhaust, valence and trunk lid are all unscathed. Kids were in the car with me which makes it a bit spine tingling but it’s all good… except for my car’s value.

Oh the irony!

Was it a driver talking on the phone?

He admitted that he was fiddling with his air conditioning which had warm air out one side and cold out the other. It was a shittily moving lineup in a turning lane that seemed like it was getting going then didn’t. So we didn’t get hit too hard.

guaranteed looking at his phone

looking at your radio = distracted driving charge
looking at your air conditioning = no probolemo

If I see someone behind me on the phone, I’ll try to change lanes if at all possible.

Sometimes I’ll juke the car (rapid side-to-side) to make them pay attention me… like I’m the unpredictable one.

Hate hate hate distracted drivers…

So I’m getting a new rear bumper. Once that was determined and the shop was told “insurance” I thought I was going to be quoted enough to buy a Mazda5. $1523 out the door. And he’s cleaning up a door ding and some scuffs on the chin from the previous owner for free since he’ll already have the paint. He’s neighbours with my boss. I’m almost happy it happened at this point.

yup and under $2000 means it probably won’t even be an issue on resale

car went into the shop this morning; was given an X3 to drive for a couple of days… it has start stop. It’s been not even one day and I want to strangle the start stop. Want to wring it’s neck. I’m already fearful that the engine’s gonna turn off as I brake for a turn. It’s so unnatural. Maybe you get used to it with ownership.
