Audi is supposed to be carrying on the mantra of underpromising and overdelivering right. Well sometimes they’re the same old stealership as every other marque.
Somehow, my emergency tow port cover disappeared.
This stupid thing:

So I went to Audi and was told $30 for the cover, $30 to have it finished. A week to get the part, a week at the body shop.
It was a week to get the part, a month at the body shop, $35 for the part and $60 to have it finished.
Boo Hoo…no biggie but it went so aggravatingly retarded when I attempted to leave. The parts guy called over to the service woman asking if they had anyone who could put it on. She said she did. I of course was picturing in my head a service guy following me out, taking the 10 seconds to clip the thing in then leaving. She asked for my keys…I quizzically handed her my keys and she said sorry yes to bring it into the service bay I have to do up a work order. I said you don’t have to bring it into the bay to snap this little thing into place. She said we do because it’s so cold out we can’t risk breaking it. I said actually I’ll just be on my way and went to reach for my keys and plastic cap. She said ok, do you want me to see if I can get someone to do it outside for you. I said sure. So the guy showed up outside, fumbled with it a bit indicating that he’d never put one on before either, it was done, I thanked him and left. I feel as though I’d thwarted their attempt to charge me money to clip a cap into place, which I was intent on doing myself prior to the parts guy calling over to the service woman.
Are lots of folks so much of a pushover that they’ll allow Audi to do up a work order to be charged money for a little plastic cover to be clipped into place?
