Steering Angle Sensor Diagnostic Help

Hey guys,

I’ve have a recurring traction control light (ESP) coming on (seemingly randomly) but it is on more than it is off… The ABS light comes on once in a while as well, maybe every 5th time I drive the car. No brake light.

Last VAGCOM scan showed:

Address 03: ABS Brakes
Labels: 8E0-614-517.lbl
Part No: 8E0614517Q
Component: ABS/ESP allrad 4533
Coding: 04597
Shop #: WSC 01234
VCID: 3663C36D126573AE711-50E8

1 Fault Found:
01286 - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85); Supply Voltage Terminal 30
    35-00 - -

Looking around it seems to be something with the steering angle sensor (obviously). What I am trying to determine is if the sensor is actually bad or just the calibration? In a lot of the results I get searching online, seems like most everyone else also has another fault code that comes along with that, being

00778 Steering Angle Sensor Faulty intermittent

But I don’t have that code. Mine doesn’t even say faulty or intermittent.

I imagine the numbers below the fault mean something, but I don’t know what… what does the

35-00 - -

indicate?

Note, at this point I do not have VCDS and cannot really do anything myself, these results are from when I had a shop scan it. Trying to determine what I should be troubleshooting ( i.e. fuses/wiring or new sensor or calibration only, etc)

Thanks
