So after searching some of the other forums (AW, AZ) it seems like this is a fairly common issue, but I jumped in the car late last night at the tail end of a rainstorm and when I hit the wipers they only moved about an inch at a time. Has anyone here had luck just hitting the joints of the linkage with PB Blaster, or is a full teardown and clean up of the joints necessary to get them back functioning?
I took out the assembly, ended up having to put a little heat to get the shaft out of its sleeve. Then I just took some sand paper and cleaned it all up. It wasn’t all that difficult to do. Never had the issue again
Do it right the first time and you will not have an issue later on. Take the whole wiper motor and linkage out. Disassemble the linkage, clean it, apply grease or similar lubricant, and reassemble/reinstall.
Had to do this on my S4 and now the wipers move so easy that it is hilarious.
The DIY’s look fairly easy, so I’m going to cross my fingers for no rain until Saturday and try to tackle it then. Any recommendation on grease or lubricant to use for this?
