That may work, on mine I used a foot of rubber hose an sliced it down the side then slipped it over both of the hoses and zip-tied it in place. Maybe it will eventually wear out, but it would be a long long time.
Any update as to where the leak was actually from? Hopefully the motor will be okay once you fix the leak and add in new oil.

Not yet, it’s the weekend. He’ll look at it tomorrow so I should have something then and I’ll update the thread.

Funny, I remember reading about it and thinking ‘if I ever get an rs4 I’m doing that right away’.
Oops.
Guess I’ve got some homework this morning lol.
There is an OEM rubber spacer between the two oil lines. The problem is it moves over time eventually allowing the two lines to rub and fail. All I did, as others had done previous to me, was zip tie the OEM rubber spacer in place. I did this 1 week after I purchased the car and it is still in place doing it’s job. Simple, inexpensive fix that works great. I’ll snap a pic the next time i’m under the car.
where is it again? I can’t find that old thread.
The two oil lines? Or the thread?
The thread - I read it on AZ. I beleive Kryptonik was the thread OP and it was the one detailing his build. I’m almost positive.
The 2 oil lines - within inches of the front radiator and oil cooler. You have to remove the splash guard to have access to them and zip tie the rubber spacer in place. IIRC, they bend and almost touch each other closer to the driver’s side…I just did an oil change on Friday but I can’t be positive if that’s where I was looking.
where are the lines
I can’t find the thread to show .
I am referring to a thread where mick posted about someone (another RS4 he was driving with maybe) losing all their oil on a trip? Maybe when mick went to JHM/034?
The lines connect the front passenger side of the motor to the lock carrier. If you remove the splash trey, you can easily see them right on the bottom.
I believe Linus had his fail when him and Mick were coming down to JHM in California.
It is all about keeping them seperate, if you let them rub, they will eventually wear through and leak, though not as much as Axel’s car did. I am guessing his was caused by a drain plug, or oil cooler line coming undone.
Found it. Just zip tie on either side of the black OEM rubber spacer.

So it is on the passenger side - my bad. I couldn’t remember.

There you go, exactly. It is a problem with them rubbing behind the radiator support. It is easy to keep the rubber bit in place, but be careful with zip-ties because the lines are not as rigid as normal stainless ones.
I’d think rubber hose, slit down the length, slipped over the line(s) would work well.
Surprised there isn’t a better seperator out there that would clip around both lines and hold them an inch apart.
The aluminum part someone posted before us good, but the lines here are kind of in a X where they rub so the clamp would likely kink the lines.
So as expected, it was just the oil cooler hose which got disconnected and spewed the oil everywhere. No damage to the engine at first glance so all is good. Phew
^ Very happy to hear that.
wow…bet you’ve never been so happy to have a bad oil line lol
How did it leak? Did it un-thread itself or did the fitting not seal with the hose properly?

x2. Also, which hose? At the thermostat, cooler, adapter??
Those are specifics I’ll need to ask my mechanic. I don’t know enough of the technical stuff to ask such pointed questions hehe. It’ll be easier to ask when I see him in person later this week rather than over the phone.
Phew! I’m bored of Axel’s bad luck, let’s get this thing sorted and flying down the 1320.
