Stumped....

Valve stem seals

Yeah thier site sucks. You have to call and talk to them. If you have your VIN when you call they can get anything. I should tell my father (who deals only with them) to get them to fix thier website. For OEM pieces they give the lowest price around ive seen.

As for h2o, I got us our house we are staying at. There will be 14 of us. Im gonna have to come over and check out your guy’s cars. Especially Jimmies. Ive never seen a JHM supercharger. I would love to go for a ride in it. Is Johnny staying with you as well?

Yup.

Cool. I met johnny a few years back at waterfest. Awesome dude. Im looking forward to coming down and meeting everyone. Ive never been to h2o.

If you’ve been to one, you’ve been to all. I don’t really care for the show itself, I go for the atmosphere and friends.

You’re welcome to join us at the house. Are you staying with Piotr? If yes, Johnny, Agata, myself and a few others might just stroll on down there to have some fun.

Yup Piotr, Domi and Tomek will be staying. As well as a bunch of his Golf R buddies. Im down to chill. We are on talbot street. I have no idea where anything is so i dont know if thats close or not. But i plan on getting Moped’s because i hear you guys love to have fun on those

We’re off 67th, it’ll be a drive up (or down).

And Mopeds are sooo 2012, Tomek and I upgraded to rented Ruckus’s last year. We got kicked out of a friends gravel lot because we were being stupid, kicking up rocks in attempt to peel out. If you hear any rumors about mopeds in elevators or mopeds being ridden around inside of rental condos, they’re ALL lies. ;D

What is a Ruckus? Well unfortunately for your claim of lies, i have seen video proof of mopeds in elevators and condos lol.

Haha, FUQQQQ!!! I thought Tomak deleted the videos.

…I just dropped off the Avant into the capable hands of Jimmy

Hope everything goes smooth

Jimmy is very knowledgeable and you should be in great hands. It really helps that he has dissassembled his car tons of times and dug deep into his motor.

Nice catch. The guide strikes again. This is why I kept telling people don’t think changing your oil control valve fixes anything.

The last time I looked at that thread there were people having the issue come back after a couple of months of doing the valve replacement.

Thanks Justin.

To add to what slow4 posted.

The valve stem seals are leaking. You can see the oil pooling slightly on the intake valves. It is the green ring around the valves.

The cam tool fit on the right/passenger side once the crank pin was in.

The left/driver side camshafts were off.

Everything all cleaned up for the night. I had to put all the tools away to make enough room for all the parts.

Great work. Those pictures just make me tired looking at them.

I’m gonna find a way to frame that broken guide ;D

a few Q’s

How did the cams look
is the new guide the exact same part number as the one thats broken
and did you ever get any codes.

I’ll reserve this question for Jimmy and his professional opinion but if I recall, no cracks and some wear.
is the new guide the exact same part number as the one thats broken

When I broke down and inspected my JHM intermediate kit, all the guides had the same exact P/Ns as the OEM parts. If you recall my earlier screenshots (now removed), the JHM intermediate sources all OEM parts EXCEPT for the mechanical adjusters, the JHM mechanical adjusters were half the price of the OEM adjusters; 750 for JHM pair vs ~1520 for OEM pair (~760ea).

JHM intermediate was 1575 iirc
OEM intermediate was sourced out at ~2300 from GAP
and did you ever get any codes.
The faults were codes that Jimmy pulled from the VAGCOM:

 1. Right engine mount solenoid open circuit
 2. Small EVAP leak detected - intermittent
 3. Knock sensor 2 upper limit exceeded - intermittent
 4. Knock sensor 3 upper limit exceeded - intermittent
 5. Large EVAP leak detected

The knock sensors were what initially threw us off and prompted me to reinstall everything I removed from the Check Valve/Jet Nozzle DIY, thinking I didn’t torque the knock sensors to spec. We did not get any timing faults but Jimmy did note that the electronic adjusters were adjusting to the retarded timing.
