Suspension options for C6 S6/A6

We all know there any many suspension options for the S6 but not many of us have experience with them. If you have an particular experience please post so that we can all become familiar. Also if you a running a particular suspension and have pics those would be awesome as well. Please comment on ride quality, height, dampening, full rear load, cornering, durability, as well as company interaction.

H&R Sport Sprints
H&R Coilovers
Blistein PSS9
ST Coilovers
KW Coilovers
GodSpeed
KSport Coilovers
D2 Racing Coilovers

I have Bilstein dampers and I think stock springs… lower than stock, but not as low as if I had H&R lowering springs. May get coilovers someday but doubt it since there are many many potholes in the area (that are handled well now) and because the setup performed so well on track… seems like the best balance for what I do with it. I guess my answer is useless since I don’t have a setup that’s on the list but still FYI lol

Add to the list. I had some bilsteins on a previous car really liked them, still ended up going with KW v3 coilovers. I enjoyed the bilsteins especially with ROI factored in, I never really was able to maximize the kw v3s as I never tracked that car but adjustability was. Ice

Who makes the oem struts? Any ideas?

I believe OE for Audi is blistein, if i remember correctly when i was at the dealer shopping for shocks/struts they were blistein.

I’ve got accuair e-level and air ride performance struts. Can say that it’s amazing how it rides, the adjustable dampening is the cat’s ass, as well as the adjustable ride height.

Car never feels floaty or bouncy. Drives like a dream. Suspension components will run you $1800 USD if you can find a dealer and make a good deal and the Elevel set me back $1,200USD used.

The whole install took a weekend, with figuring out the Elevel sensors taking the majority of the time.

I’ve had ST Coilovers in my S4 and those rode pretty stock like, would have like the adjustable dampening. As for H&R I have a buddy who had those in a C6 A6 wagon and it rode great too.

So in theory decent springs might work ok

Any pics of the install. That sounds like the ideal system. So about 3k In parts, plus install

Surprisingly I’m interested in trying these Godspeed coilovers after doing the research they have relatively the same manufacturer as other reliable coilovers. In addition they 40 way adjustable dampening. I don’t think they can be any worse than the STs

Not yet… I should do that soon tho. Just didn’t have patience to do photos back when I installed it last summer in +30C/95F weather lol. Install is as easy as Coilovers in terms of the suspension bits, running the air lines along the fuel/brake lines to the front was as easy as it gets. I’ll take pics of the sensors and a bunch of other stuff when I have some time. Have some carbon cleaning project and axle replacement to do on the car.

GRAVEDIG! But in all seriousness, has anyone gotten Bilstein coilovers before? I’m looking to upgrade the suspension as it’s probably getting closer to replacing everything. In Houston, I’d say we have our fair share of eerie roads plus I eventually am going to add a spoiler lip, so I don’t want to go too low. But I do want to bridge some of the gap. So I ask: Bilstein since OEM and a 30mm drop or H&R?

How’s everyone’s current setup?

Wow I never did post any thing on the air suspension… oops.

I had H&R coilovers in my 07 A6 Wagon and they blew out after 1 year. Replaced them with ST Coilovers and been happy ever since, plus a much better deal.

I’ve had bilsteins in other vehicles and can’t say a bad thing about them… as for what to get either bilsteins/drop coils vs coilovers? There is not much difference, with the exception that you can go lower on coilovers obviously.

As much as I like the air suspension (shocks are from BC Racing and are 23 way adjustable, and very very good) I think if I had to do it over I’d spring for just coilovers. IMO.

Can anyone comment on using a linear spring for track use vs. progressive? I have not done the research yet, but I am told this should be considered…

I will comment that I have bilstein HDs with stock springs and they are pretty taut. Handling has improved but sometimes wish they were a touch softer.

I havent tried any different springs than OEM. I have I think bilstein HDs and stock springs and my instructors always spoke about how unbelievable the car handled and stopped. I think the best possible route to go would be to get a tuned electromagnetic setup from TRC. Unfortunately that is expensive I guess. I can only imagine how amazing it would be to have the latest suspension tech though.
