Sway Bar Questions

I need some advise on upgrading my sways. Hotchkis seems like a no brainer but what set up? The RS4 rear intrigues me but I’m told I’ll have to upgrade the endlinks. I’d probably run that on the softer setting.

Would I have to upgrade the endlinks if running the 24mm H-sport rear sway on the stiffer setting?

Any advice is appreciated.

OEM RS4 is plenty for me. Never had an instance where I wish I had a thicker bar

hotchkiss front and rear. Go big or go home. I didn’t think it mattered until I went for a rip in a car with a set of them. Drastically changes the car’s handling and the way it plants itself, taking corners is unreal.

I prefer h-sport rs4r rear sway only.

The end links is not as common as people make it out to be imo. Yes, some have broken, but it’s not just all of them.

I’ve run the H-sport rear sway for almost 4 years on the aggressive setting and not had one problem and still on oem end links at 98k.

I did a poll on this on audizine years ago and it was something like 10% that had a problem. Wasn’t that bad. I thought it was way worse the way everyone talked about them failing.

I guess it’s like carbon buildup. If you believed the forum ‘tone’ on that issue, you’d think my car with 35,000 miles was making S4 like power at the crank.

I run the hotchkiss bars front and rear on the RS…

Rear is on stiffer setting and I am currently on stock end links with no issues… DD and track duty.

In past I ran stern rear links on softer setting and one of them snapped on the threaded bolt part.

Summary and my opinion… Run the stock links with no issues!!

But if you do feel so inclined to run end links which it sounds like you don’t, stay away from stern…

The rear links seem to snap when you have a lot if lean. Like an ngng autocross apex turn, or going up an uneven driveway that cause one wheel to be compressed a lot

This is good advice. I think I’m going to go with the RS4 rear and sport front. I’ll also take my chances on the stock links in light of this new info.

Thanks fellas

I have them f&R - what I’ve learned, put the rear on the stiffer setting. I did and haven’t snapped a link in 8 months. On the soft setting I’ve broken stock link, and THREEE Stern links, yes three. Now on the stiffer setting zero problems. I don’t think there is enough sweap when on the softer setting and it causes the bolt to stress, snag & snap. Points to Koolaide for that observation and suggestion - it worked for me.

Thanks NY. I will heed your advise. Much appreciated
