Switching to a Roc-Euro Intake

Ordered one today. Best 1/4 mile pass is 12.32 in really good conditions (on winter tires). Should be interesting to see if I net anything when the track opens this spring.

If anyone’s interested in my APR Carbonio intake (Stage I & II), PM me. It has between 5k-7k miles on it. I’ll post it in the classifieds eventually.

I’ve considered swapping in the roc euro for my awe. Your results may help persuade me. Good luck.

Thnx, man. I’ll keep you guys updated. Been considering this for a while now. Roc-Euro had a deal going with free shipping and around $50 off full price.

I did this and was more than happy to leave the awe intake in the rear view mirror. Awesome sound, totally engaging.

Congrats, Cloch! Looking forward to the results. Hopefully I’ll have my TCU tune and we can both set new personal bests next time we are at GLD.

Brandon, Wise move like the others have said… Buy some header wrap and wrap it as well… You can get black and if you take your time it looks good… Let me know if you need a link on it or pics…

Ken, Whose doing the TCU tune?

CountVohn

Plan is to drive up to Detroit when this unrelenting winter ends.

Ken - thnx. And great to hear that you’re moving forward with the TCU tune. We shld be in good shape when the track opens.

Ron - thnx, man. Would be great to see the pics. Maybe post them in this thread? Otherwise you can email them to me. Much appreciated.

Can’t wait. I may be rocking some new lightweight wheels as well. Dropping 10lbs per wheel should probably get me into the 12.5-12.4 range?

Ya that seems doable in good conditions. You’re at 12.63 now, so a TCU tune + weight reduction shld get you into 12.4-12.5 territory. We just need the DA that we had last year.

That DA + lighter wheels and I definitely think I could hit 12.5… I wonder how much I’ll pick up with an extra 400+ rpms worth of boost in each gear.

Here’s a little mockup of how the car should be looking come spring

Did you ever figure out if things were all a-ok with your tune? I remember Ron pointing out some irregularly low timing a while back. It’s not like your car is slow by any means though…

^^ Those look really sharp. Looking forward to seeing how your car performs. You will probably be the only A6 with a TCU tune - pretty cool.

Re my tune - I never really followed up on it. Definitely need to do some more logging. In any event, I’m hoping to net a tenth with the new intake.

Brandon, You bet… I posted them in another thread somewhere but can’t find them… I’m in the office and can’t access photobucket so I’ll post them from home tonight… Here is the link to the wrap…

Awesome - thnx!

Im in the same boat. I have the Stage 2 APR intake, but want more charger whine, but even if the Roc Euro intake makes a better sound and may give slightly more gains… end of the day, when compared to the look and finish of the APR intake (and given that it is a fully closed air box - PIG friendly)… it makes it hard to make that jump. Whats your thoughts after jumping ship? Is the noise and minimal gain worthwhile?

thoughts? Here’s one… Try driving with your hood on, and you won’t have to look at the intake.

Who cares how it looks? It’s like worrying what your socks look like or the dirt under your grass. It’s covered up, so focus on it being effective rather than how it looks.

800088 - I understand what you’re saying. The APR kit certainly looks great under the hood. And it helped liven the engine noise up a bit. But what really matters is whether it increases performance. That’s what I’m shooting for here.

In that regard, my next set of 1/4 mile passes will be really interesting. The only thing different will be my intake. Hell, I’ll even try to run with the same winter setup that produced my personal best of 12.32.

On the advice of the AR forum I am patiently waiting for my Roc Euro intake to be shipped. I didn’t realize it was a special sale price when I bought it a couple weeks back, and unfortunately got in on some kind of a group buy. Hopefully it ships soon!!!

I spoke to John@RocEuro yesterday, and he said that he hopes to ship the orders out this week. My credit card was just charged today. I think a lot of people bought in on the sale + free shipping.
