Teaser: APR 3.0 TFSI Stage III Supercharger System

I think the ZR1 is very relevant in the selection of the 1740… GM couldn’t really justify selling the ZR1 if they both shared the same blower with a larger pulley, for the ZO7… I’d be shocked if the ZR1 isn’t either still using the TVS2300 or is TT’ed but I highly doubt it will share the 1740…

Edit: come to think about it, at this power level, is there a need for a ZR1? I’ve been reading that they’re targeting 700+hp for it! I’m not sure how they plan on getting all that power to the ground but I’m sure it will be a beast to drive! ;D

Can’t tell who you’re replying to. You quoted me, but went on about the ZR1 not using a 1740 for some reason…did you quote the wrong post?

I was replying to both of you… lol!

Just saying the 1740 may not have been selected because it was the best fit. I may have been selected as a way of distinguishing the ZO6 from the ZR1 (or vice versa).

Would be interesting if the only thing that makes the ZR1 is a bigger blower. The’ve pretty much put all the goodies on the Z06 as it is. What is left?

there’s already (and has already been for years) a 1900 for that if they wanted the C6 Z06 to be blown. Or this one for that matter.

They went out of their way to develop this with Eaton.

what goodies does the Z06 add?..is there a list somewhere?

I keep seeing body work, blower, automatic trans…and then an optional $10,000 (guessing) Z07 package with ceramics and Cups. The ZR1 will come with pretty much everything standard. And that’s IF there is a ZR1.

The ZR1 is a bit like an Enzo for GM. They don’t make one every generation.

Dry sump oiling, electronic LSD, widebody and aero, 370/365mm rotors and 6-piston fronts standard, 285/335 tires and wheels, magnetic shocks, forged internals, etc. Not to spoon-feed you but it’s on chev’s website

It looks like all they can do with the ZR1 now is throw in the optional ceramic discs, seats, and luxury of the Z06 plus a bigger blower (that by then, may already be available on the aftermarket).

I agree, there may not be a ZR1, at least for a few years. Maybe it will have 650hp plus 300 hp of hybrid power and take the fight to the new breed of hypercars, lol, let’s start a rumour. I don’t see where else they can go from here that would be just splitting hairs, already the C6 versions of the Z06 and ZR1 were splitting hairs in terms of performance.

Is this info out proper? I thought it was all speculation still. Cool. That’s a pretty big bump over the regular car. That will be $90,000 USD comfortably optioned up (but not optioned to the max).

A loaded one with the ceramics etc last generation was a hair over $100,000.

77,000 for the base car, 10,000 to make it livable (good seats etc) and another 12,000 for the brakes/carbon package and then suspension options etc put you at $100,000 plus a little bit.

Looks like the new Z06 will use the TVS 1740… Very interesting they are putting it on such a large displacement motor, in comparison to our car…

With the cylinder deactivation, the engine starts to come into line with the size of ours as they start shutting them down.

Understood… However, when goin balls out it’s a small blower… The old ZR1 used the 2.3L an the CTS-V uses the 1.9L… I’m sure there is much more to to it than I understand but still thought it was a surprising choice… Makes me feel better about our potential seeing Obama motors choosing it and the results APR shared on th RS4…

I think he was joking lol. Skid can be dry humour wise.

You can’t forget that the Z06 is not the ZR1. So that’s irrelevant. They used a monster blower on the ZR1, but at the end of the day the Z06 all motor used to keep up with it in most races. Was the 2300 the best choice?

The Z06 is also going from making 505 hp all motor to 6something with the 1740. I don’t think the 1740 is small by any means compared to 0.

The 1900 is likely too big on the RS4 as well. So somewhere in between there there is a good fit.

Don’t forget the 1740 didn’t exist 7 years ago when they developed the gen 2 CTS-V or the C6 Z06 or ZR1. I think it’s pretty certain that the 1740 will be on the gen 3 Cadillac though.
