Teaser: APR 3.0 TFSI Stage III Supercharger System

For over a year we’ve hinted at taking 3.0 TFSI to new unheard of levels of performance and today it’s time to give you a taste of what’s coming.

Here’s the new design from a couple angles:

The insides are just as beautiful as the outside!

And here’s our “worst case scenario” test fitment on a 4G chassis with a larger than necessary pulley. This rapid prototype is the original design based off the RS4 casting design, which has already changed in appearance.

I’m sure you’ll have many questions and we will share the answers when we’re ready to do so.

When does mine ship?

;D

That sure looks pretty…

:P. track opens first sat in April…

Very excited to see the details!!!

Good for a chuckle that the other tuners/manufacturers are still trying to figure out a pulley ;D ;D

Hmmmm… who’s getting it first? My money’s on PT followed closely by 81 and jspazz…?

My suggestion would be to get it onto PT or 81bear’s car first and then race the two head to head on PetroCan 94 pump gas (to avoid any potential roll cage issues) to see the true delta.

It would be a fantastic product launch!

I would give it a go. I may have to hijack the UPS guy near Cleveland to intercept Ron’s, if it comes to that.

I didn’t understand the rs4 reference… Is something changing in the rs stage three kit?

That’s what it sounds like to me…

That’s exciting. I have been wondering which car can handle more power. I hope Apr found out.

It is my impression that the rs engine can handle the 1900 without flinching. Hopefully that’s a 1900 in the kit

I’m curious as to what addition items over and above the S/C and supporting items (pulley, belt, etc.) will be included in the kit? I know Arin had commented that the CPS unit was highly recommend, but he did not say it was necessary…

In a previous thread speculating blower size and price I believe I comment on my assumption that APR would look to a blower that could be used across a number of platforms (b7 s4/rs4, b8 s4/rs4, rs5, and maybe even the v8 r8) to help recoup those R&D dollars.

Yeah but they don’t always get it right

Their last two supercharger kits were Eaton m, 90 for the b6 s4 (terribly undersized and matched with jhm header back plus tune) and the tvsr1320 on the forged interns 4.2 rs4 which, shortly, will be under pressure from JHM bolt on rs4 cars again.

Neither of those made sense really.

So what blower is that?

Per the RS4 reference, I think he means the external design resembles that of the current RS4 s/c kit. Rather than draw a new part, they just drag and dropped it from the CAD files from the RS4 kit.

That’s what I’m saying… I think the TVS 1900 is the best blower to work with a number of the Audi platforms and I would assume they would use this blower in their kits moving forward.

I remember talking about the 1320 being a poor choice and preferring the 1900 back in Feb, 2010… good to see it come to fruition finally. The one piece manifold/blower housing is slick as well.

Pretty cool to see this come into reality finally. I’d have to agree with beem, the singular housing is a nice design and very finished looking. But APR tries to do that well to help with marketing as usual.

One question, has the B8 platform figured out a good clutch setup for the manual guys, and/or limit of the DSG. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

Also, anyone care to guess or speculate on pricing for the kit itself (blower, tuning, etc but not other boltons). 10k? 15k? 18k?

I say 15

We did this in the stage iii thread

If the b8 dsg is anything like the GTi dsg, it should handle 650 hp without breaking a sweat in stock form. Lots of mkv r32 guys pushing them hard too
