Tempted to do something crazy...

It’s at the dealer where we normally go in Raleigh…closest I’ve seen an RS4 to me in a while, and yes I have been keeping my eye out.

Only problem is the interior…it’s a little bit too loud for me.

Talk me into it…or out of it…GO

If you like the red then go for it, good mileage. Definitely flashy hahah. We need more rs4’s on here.

If it’s any indication, I looked into bringing that very car to Canada. Audi USA said they’d honour the CPO but I’d have to take it to a dealer in Michigan for warranty work.

Audi of Canada told me to fuck off.

I love the red on red. I would also love it if this car ended up in AR hands!

isn’t that funny… We were just looking at that

I love the interior, but of course I would…I’m a bit biased. haha

I think you should GO ahead and buy it. Oh wait, we are supposed to be talking you out of the purchase? Sorry, epic fail.

Haha, I’m not looking to be talked either way…I’m gonna make a phone call today, see if my last salesman will make me a deal so I don’t waste a 2 hour trip.

Email sent, let the wheelin and dealin’ begin.

If all goes well maybe I can get it to the track Sunday and go for that record…haha <—(optimism)

Link no worky… Deal done?

Still works for me.

the stock record?

I am tired of being fastest. I have decided to let someone have the title but nobody seems able to. Are you?

That interior was a $4000 option… And I think if you don’t like it someone with black interior will be happy to swap for your red black.

Haha, if it happens I will definitely attempt to dethrone you Saki.

Great info on the interior, I figured it was a pricey option…we will see what they have to say. I want to get cash for my s4 so I can pay off my wife’s Q5, but if they try and f me in the A…I will just wait until the right deal comes along. It’s just hard to pass up one that is this close. When I bought the S4 I flew to FL and bought it.

1 owner, CPO… doeeeeettt

bango wants you to buy it so he doesn’t have to. Makes his life easier lol.

Sorry guys…no dice. They only had the thing for a few days. Someone put a deposit on it last Friday and picked it up Monday. I told them to update their fucking website.

There go my hopes and dreams for the week and I guess this thread is dead.

QFT. Figured it would sell quickly.

Interesting though…you were picturing yourself owning that thing. I think it’s inevitable. That happened to me last August. By Septermber I started this thread…

I’ve been thinking about it since the car went down. With jnaut going 12.2 with minimal bolt ons and no tune, and I hear you always bringing up the beefy bottom end that has yet to be pushed to failure it’s pretty intising. I could go 11s in my s4, but not without stressing the motor (which has its flaws) and I need a power adder. In my opinion it is pretty obvious the RS is very close to 11s NA…and no I dontmean 11.00. Low 11s high 10s supercharged…

Saki it is inevitable…I love the b7 looks and add the stance and wide body of the RS4, I would have been in one sooner but they are coming down to a price I’m comfortable paying now.

I could list a whole page of reason why I could buy one soon, but those are just a few.

It’s definitely a cool car. That’s the one thing I never really thought about when I bought one…the ‘interesting’ factor.

Count Vohn was explaining the stress testing that needs to be done to a motor before you have it rev out to 8250 RPM. That’s the key that makes the RS4 so tough and able to hold power.

I, like you, had a nicely modded B7 S4, but I just thought where do I go from here? If I keep modding, I’m going to be fighting a ceiling, and a year ago a built motor didn’t seem like it was happening soon. Now it’s 2012 and that’s still the case. So I bought the RS4.

The price gap was fairly large…but I then looked at a number of factors

  1. that gap will always stay fairly large. Sure it will shrink over time, but how far down is a limited production $40,000 RS4 going to go from here? Sure it will depreciate, but whenever you sell it, you will recoup some of that price gap…and arguably the limited production nature will help it from here on in.

  2. what do you get on a stock RS4 for that $20,000 or so price gap?
Brembos (people pay $2000+ for a Brembo front BBK)
Widebody (not sure what price to put on that…but it’s pretty awesome)
19x9 wheels (people pay $1000-4000 for 19" wheels for the S4 all the time)
suspension and a lowered ride height(people pay $2000+install for suspension on the S4 all the time)
rarity - helps value over time and has a non-tangiable value
headers - while not as exciting as the $2750 JHM headers for the S4, the headers that come stock are effective
2.5" downpipes - again, something everyone buys for their S4 if they get heavily into modding
2.36" catback - maybe the only weak spot, but it sounds great and has the valves which allow you to be civilized when you need to
slightly improved interior - great carbon fibre trim, slightly different shifter, wheel and brake lever handle
loaded - 95% of RS4s come with the premium package which basicallly was every option you could ever have on a B7…auto window shade etc.

When you add all that up, it’s pretty significant.

OH…forgot one.

BUILT MOTOR capable of handling 550-600 whp (according to Hennesey/UR).

What will a JHM motor build cost? How long will it take? I think that’s the kicker right there. The S4 to RS4 price gap will see half the difference made up on the motor build alone.

All great points as usual…many of which are my deciding factors

I’m also a big fan of the “sleeper” nature of the car. I know that people who love cars or audis will know what it is, but being low key has benefits as well.
