Test pipe diameter - stock headers

What diameter pipe do I need to weld into the stock headers in place of the cats?

I was told at one point 1 & 5/8" pipe. Is that correct?

I see 1&5/8th for the 2 to 1 collector. The 3 to 1 collector is larger will report what diameter I use when I get to those

You may be able to just gut the cats one by one to make it simpler. Not the same I know, but just an idea.

Any good methods on gutting the cats? Also will I need a tune if I gut the cats? Thanx in advance.

There are two good ways of going about this.

  1. Just cut the can and use an air hammer and just remove the material. Easy works great still adds a ton of power.
  2. doing what laketahoe did. That requires a bit more work and precision.

Removing the cats is a very smart way to extend the life of the motor and add a good chunk of power. The cats on these cars tend to go bad.

You will need a tune and I and I think everyone else will highly recommend you get the JHM ecu and TCU tune. Its totally worth the money you spend and you’ll get R8 like results.
