Testing With My GIAC Beta E85 File

Some of you probably remember when I first came on here, and I was testing with 50/50 E85 blends. Well, we have since taken a large step forward and I now have a beta E85 file. The file has 0% fuel trims and we now have full switching available, meaning that I can change between pump gas and E85 and have all of my fueling switch with the press of a button.

I did a lot of testing of the timing maps at Shift Sector a few weeks ago, and at the time I ran a 9.43 60-130 (the fastest PJ K04 I have seen on AZ). Last night, I was able to do some more 60-130 testing with only a 1-shift run, and I put up back to back 8.8’s with a best of 8.85. This was my car in daily driver form, with the exception of the passenger and rear seats removed (~100 lbs)

My mods:

2000 S4
GIAC Beta E85 Software
PJ K04’s
55# Injectors
50/50 W/M Injection
Stock internals
3" downpipes
Restrictive single 3" exhaust
ER Intercoolers

The DA was 876, so I think there is a lot more in the car if I can get into the negatives one of these nights. I’m very excited to finally get this E85 project nearing completion, and the next step is a trip to Sacramento in the middle of December!

looks pretty quick. Should be comfortably in the elevens at Sacramento with their great DA nights. Watch your calender and your weathernetwork app!

What about when you tested a few weeks ago

  1. what was the density altitude?
  2. where is the map for that file showing elevation etc?
  3. did you 2 shift it on those runs?

These high 8 second runs were both at -1.5% decline (20 foot drop over a 1300 foot run) which is not insignificant. If the other 9.4 times were flat or at a slight incline, it could be a factor. Not sure how much, but we’ve seen 1-2 % changes influence times pretty heavily on the B8 guys who do some 60-130.
Couple with 1000 feet of DA and who knows how big the delta is.
Throw in the extra shift on the earlier run and we’ve got a threesome of fairly large variables.

Since we’re talking delta in time, we should make sure it’s a legit 6 tenths in similar conditions.

I may be getting confused…are you comparing 50/50 (those earlier runs) to full E85?

The 9.4 was on an airstrip, but the decline was about 1%. The DA was very similar there, as it was the same temperature with a 500 foot elevation (about the same as this run).

The main difference between my 9.4 and the 8.8 is that I cut out the 5th gear shift. This saved me from shifting at 127mph.

Like I said, the DA on this run was 847 (in SoCal we’ll never see -1400+ DA like the B8 guys on the east coast). You can see the elevation in the summary. And this isn’t so much a comparison of the 9.4 and 8.8, I am just showing where the car is at. It isn’t a before and after as this is the same file just with slight changes like the rev limiter.

yeah, I thought you were trying to show the delta, but it’s just a couple of modifications to the same setup really.

careful with the rev limiter…engine speed’s a helluva drug.

p.s. the RS4 4th gear runs out I believe at 129 MPH. It’s a cunt for this 60-130 test.

Ya, it was just to show where I’m at right now (not a comparison as it is the same file). I only had to bump it to 7300 so I’m not too worried about it. My K04’s are running out of steam there anyways so no need to go any higher. I’m hoping the DA drops some more soon and that I can free up my exhaust and get into the 8.5 range.

Naturally I am a liar on AZ because someone else was a 3.0 FATS car and I can’t be half a second faster (despite being GPS verified).

lol

“hater!”

I suppose I understand the skepticism, as even I was surprised. I just think its a little ridiculous to say, well my cars not that fast so no way yours is.
