Thank you and good night..

I sold my C6 S6 saloon a month or so ago, so I wanted to say thank you to anyone who helped me with my non tech, newbie engine questions. I just want to say it was a real journey owning a S6 v10 - I learn’t a lot about the car, and cars in general that I would have never had to bother knowing if I’d gone and bought some lame old Ford Galaxy wagon ;D …

I didn’t really want to sell it, but I have 3 kids under 8 and it was a constant battle to stop them trashing the hell out of it (plus the woman curbing the f*#@ out of the alloys, in hindsight it was probably wrong time of life to buy it. I drive about 130/150 miles a week so not a huge amount, but god I really miss the howling V10 with the window down annihilating the crap out of little punks in they’re pimped up motors. I never modified the car and I think the cars power is underrated in relative terms. On paper 0-60 in 5secs may not be ‘god like’ quick to some, but it destroys the hell out of 99% of all cars where I live, and it’s the way it keeps pulling way beyond - most fast little hot hatch’s can’t live with that. We managed 148 out of it, but bottled out as one tends to run out of road rather quick. At that speed it was barely any different than doing 78. The S6 had a great interior, very luxurious, everyone was impressed who traveled in it. and this brings me onto the few negatives I have about the car. I was lucky because I picked up by fluke an early 09 face-lift. I only realized I had a face-lift after seeing older car pixs here. and I know I’m gunna get some haters now but I think the face-lift model from the rear looks significantly more modern - the previous model to me now looks very dated to me. Which brings me on to the one thing which really bugged me about the car as time went on is the way it looked from the front… and it is irrational I know, but the front headlight cluster >:(

The front lights make the car look even more dated practically 10 years out of date - not much different to first gen C6 A6 - and what I never understood is why a £60k+ car, Audi gave lesser base models (A3, A4 etc) better shaped headlights… you know, the sexy styled ones which make the car look angry, with internal LED’s molded e.g.

I think this would have made the car look less dated. That said it’s just my opinion and I guess someone would post a mod.

The RS6 lights are just about acceptable (on 80k car!?) but they still have the fat, boring cluster shape.

One misconception about this car is the engine. I think its bomb proof. You’d have to be a complete idiot to break it, and as long as its well maintained it should be fine. I never carbon cleaned it at 97k.

Anyway, headlight rant over. A great car all in all. You will all cringe but I have to confess I bought this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/U281-VW-Audi-Skoda-OBD2-VAG-CAN-BUS-Fault-Code-Reader-Scanner-diagnostic-tool/302528201533?epid=1140672705&hash=item467016033d:g:TMwAAOSwHmhV8SON -
for £12 and used it to reset the engine warning lights after injector misfires before selling to a large car trading company (who never even bothered to drive it in the end!)

I can’t believe how well they S6 and RS6 still hold they’re prices. I was always a bit jealous of RS4 and RS6 owners. I think in a few years when things are quite I’d like to pick up a 2010/11 RS6 and re-live the dream!
