Just a quick update on bushings…no squeaks or abnormal noises yet. I think there may be more of these bushings in my future.
Not driving the car nearly as much these days (thanks COVID!) and recently had two new issues as punishment for not driving her every day. She’s like that.
First, headlight went out. Waiting on a set of Osram bulbs to arrive, Amazon is taking their sweet time and lost the first set (thanks Amazon!). Second set arrives Thursday.
Second, my driver’s side PCV just went out. The replacement for that should be arriving next week as well. I did notice my idle was a bit rougher after it had been buttery smooth post plug and coil change. V12 smooth. Anyway…I suspect it was my PCV going bad. The last tell-tale sign was the extremely loud centrifugal supercharger whistle coming from under the hood when idling. Thing is, I don’t have a supercharger. I do get a big “thumbs up” from Hellcat drivers who pull up next to me. So that’s a plus.
I’ll shoot a video on both. Now that the weather is beginning to cool down I have a few others in the works too so expect content to ramp up again.
Yes in eurotrash land we run 5w30 long life service and oil or 0w30 for 10.000 km oil change intervals. 0w30 was my experience, the cars pulls harder (placebo). Going to try to develop some feel for the right quantity for it to go like a rocket ship again!
Its the same in the U.K 5w30 or 0w30 is what’s recommended i am tempted to try the 10w40 Motul sport ! Its also interesting you think your car was quicker with 0w30 tho
Great to hear your bushes are squeak free still. I can’t wait for more of your vids been missing them as of late bring on the Redmist Porn haha !!
I’ll catch up with more videos. I replaced both my PCV’s last week as well as my headlights. I"ll be doing the rear diff service again too this fall and will shoot that.
What a romantic tale and such detail into your RS5 journey! i spent a good half of this morning at work reading this thread.
I’m interested in how your bushings fare after a few months. I went for 034motorsport 65-durometer lower control arms + SPC performance camber-adjustable control arms for front, but i am curious how polybushes will compare to 65-durometer rubber bushings.
For the rear, i am going full powerflex polybushes (street) for the rear control arms:
- PFR3-711
- PFR3-712
- PFR3-714
- PFR3-716
The rear control arm bushes are arriving next week so i will report back as well to share polybush experience
So far so good. I’ve had them on there for about a year and I’ve not “acquired” any additional noises. Will be interested in your opinion on the rear setup and how much of an increase there is in noise, vibration and harshness.
