Ya, we really liked it out there. They have always had steeps, just recall hearing they opened up more terrain with easier access to more of it. Used to hold extreme skiing competitions back in the day. Seems every resort does now but they used to be the go to spot. Fond place in my heart because my girlfriend learned to ski there.

I was at Sugarloaf this past weekend when a lift broke and rolled back. Didn’t actually witness it but heard it was pretty chaotic as it was happening.
My friend and I were about to head over to King Pine right before the accident happened but we decided to get one more beer at lunch. Really could’ve been a day ruiner if it wasn’t for that beer. It was the first time I had ridden there in a couple years but I was amazed at how good the conditions were for late March.

The resort I go to has already suspended operations due to lack of snow and increasingly warm weather (which in turn makes it rain instead of snow).
Pretty shitty season…

damn, glad I went to the Bush not the Loaf this weekend. Thursday/friday could hurt snowpack quite a bit but more snow this weekend. A bunch of mtns are finally announcing closing dates, cannon is 4/19, sunday river is 5/2. I’m hoping killington pushes it into june, but if not mt washington beckons.

I’m heading back up to the Loaf for Reggae Fest the 10th-12th but other than that I think I’m done for the season. I just can’t bring myself to drive 3+ hours from the Cape and pay for a ticket to ride mashed potatoes on 10 open trails… I’ve always wanted to do Tuckerman’s but none of my friends have the balls to give it a go.
Yeah that’s rough from the cape. I’m on the western side of Worcester so VT mtns are a nice ride for me. I’ll post up when im heading up to tuckermans

Another bluebird day at cannon, 30’s with sun all day and untracked snow deep in the woods.

Nice glade way down in the valley between kinsman & the tram

Interesting unmarked run over some waterfalls next to the tram, can’t believe I’d never seen it before

Last run of the day through kinsman, hoping the snow stays to next weekend
These glade runs seem like the goal is just to not die. Is that why people like them so much?

they’re not too bad once you get used to them, but yeah it adds some challenge. the trees also hold fresh snow much longer, less wind and less tracks, and are generally substantially warmer during the bitter months.
some of the back/sidecountry stuff, yeah the goal can shift to not dying lol. my exploring on sunday found a maybe 20’ cliff that looked more like a big fissure and some bear tracks near the arrow below.

truthfully I feel safer skiing in the trees on steep knarly stuff as they can be a safety net if you get going too fast (eg reach out and grab them or just plow into some saplings). the only exception being cliffs/ledges since you need some run out. the Church at sugarbush is kinda hairy if you go over the top because the runout is so short before the trees start

Forgot to update, and don’t have pics on my computer, but our trip to Telluride was great. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed it. The town is a tad smaller and slower nightlife than I may have prefered, but it was one of the best mountains I’ve been on. Really enjoyed out time and will definitely consider making it back out that way.
