I also have flat feet and 3 pins in my right ankle so that definitely doesn’t help with pain either.

^^ quite jealous.
I’m waiting till after the Christmas holidays to go up to our local “mountains” to do some break-in riding. I got myself new Ride Flight boots that I need to break in.
I broke my new boots in over the weekend. It was a little painful for about 2 hours. Oddly my feet would hurt on the chairlift and then they’d feel great while I was skiing.
I get that with my old ass Head boots, I typically pop the top 2 buckles and its not as bad.
what boots?

Always unclip my boots on chair. And I love having lifts with foot rests. Lame but true
No doubt. I like to actually rest on the lift and avoid the lifts without footrests.
I normally skip pulling down the bar down, no rest for me
I normally do too. It doesn’t seem to help relieve any of the pain.
Find it takes up just enough pressure to give a little relief at least. Worth it for me. I am looking into getting fitted with custom boot liners finally. I’ve halfstepped it long enough with custom cork foot beds and just cannot get rid of certain terrible pressure points that actually put my feet to sleep at times. Shit sux. Not cheap but IF it works I’d gladly spend the money. Anyone here have any luck or experiences?
If no foot rest, me neither. Not worried about falling off the lift.
see I find letting my feet hang with the boots loose helps a lot to relieve stress.
I have old well beaten Head boots, iirc they are about 10 years old now (price tag sticker is still on them, $169 lol). I tend to get cramps in my arches on longer trails (hard scrabbles on Cannon for instance) and taking the pressure off helps a lot.

i’ve always been taught (from basic training) not to loosen your boots after a long walk/hump/day of work because your legs will swell and make it harder to strap back on…not sure if thats relevant though.
i normally just lean back and let my boots hang (having the snowboard strapped to one foot is annoying when tired) or if i’m alone on a lift, i’ll put my boot on the seat next to me and let the other dangle.
