The Top Gear UK Thread

Some of my favorite episodes:

  • series 9 US cheap car road trip. Our family had the identical (except for the wheels) teal green camaro back in the day. I’ve got great memories of that car; the best ones involving girlfriends 8)

  • series 10, Richard driving a Formula 1 car

  • series 12 “How much Lorry do you get for 5000 pounds”

  • series 13 premiere Locomotive vs. Jaguar vs. Vincent Black Shadow

  • series 14 premiere (HD premiere too) exotics on the Transfagarazzan

  • 14 x 06 Bolivia. Jeremy almost tumbling down a cliff in his car.

  • 15 x 04 Caravans made out of a Land Rover, Lotus and Citroen

  • series 16 Middle East Christmas special. Incredible.

Way too many to list actually.

Brian Johnson loves being on Top Gear, and Top Gear loves having Brian Johnson.

By far my favorite show on TV.

the ones i’ve saved on DVR:

Trio goes to Vietnam
Trio goes to India
Trio goes to Bolivia
Trio goes to Ethopia?

Botswana

Yeah all the hour long features in another country are amazing.

The season ending special are some of my favourites, but Vietnam and the most recent African special stand out to me. Outside of those, another favorite of mine is the one where they had the competition against the German car show hosts. I was on the floor when they replaced James with Stig for the final stint of the race. I also have to add last weeks hovercraft episode. And the episode where James was testing the Ariel Atom, but it was actually Tiff Needell doing the serious driving… I could go on and on…

I’m going to watch the Arctic special again. THat was fucking awesome when the SAS man was training them on cold weather survival.

That was another fun episode to watch

** pours vodka from thermos and drinks while driving ** ;D ;D ;D

They weren’t driving… they were technically “at sea” lololol

Lots of fun episodes but one of the best “review races” has to be the B7 RS4 vs the climbers. I love the end of the review where Jeremy challenges the climber to a race back down the mountain… I wont’ spoil it if you haven’t seen it, but truly breathtaking.

Best show, season 20 is turning out to be another great one.

For anyone who doesn’t know, www.finalgear.com is great for downloading any episode in HD usually a day or two after the latest one aired.

Agreed, I use FinalGear.com as well. Great site. And yes, Season 20 has been entertaining. The Stig testing the “caravans” was great.

Love the mobile home episode when Jeremy has the ridiculously tall home and (obviously staged) it tips over in the night. James asks, “Was that the wind?” and Jeremy goes, “Oh no a giant came.” Great episode all around.

Lorry test, Clarkson: “This is a hard job, and I’m not just saying this to win favour with lorry drivers. It’s a hard job - change gear, change gear, change gear, check your mirrors, murder a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder. That’s a lot of effort in a day.”

-Geoff the hybrid was great.
-Bolivia Special
-James in the Bugatti top speed run #1 (great cinematography, love the 2001 Space Odyssey while he gets close to 250+)
-Carrera GT and Koenigsegg CCX review

Every episode is great though.

Yeah, I just watched 20x05 and it was great with the caravan car testing. PMSL.

I was PMSL last week at the hovercraft - like all the people on shore getting sprayed with air and water. The producers couldn’t possibly have gone ahead and said to every business and pedestrian on shore that “the Top Gear presenters are about to come by with a hovercraft - you may get wet.” so I figure none of them had a clue WTF was going on. That’s what made it seriously funny.

Hired actors

smite.

j/k

Yeah, not really surprised on the actors thing, especially after reading Ben Collins’ book. It doesn’t make the show any less entertaining though.
