There's a rumour on Quattrofail ...

… that JHM finally found the limit of their b7 rs4 shop car

I actually had quattrofail’s greatest dyno sheet printer pm me and accuse me of covering for jhm when I said they tore the motor down as part of their testing, and that they really popped the motor (as if I have something to do with their business lol)

He was saying they killed the motor, and seemed to act like this was damning information that he had.

I said to him

  1. I am pretty sure Dans car ate oil from day one (he bought with 70,000 miles) and they finally tore the engine apart after supercharger testing to prepare for their built motor program, and to see why his car (and so many cars both stock and modded) ate oil. They found out the major cause of cylinder scoring in the b6 s4 during this motor tear down process as well, for reference.

  2. Jhm has pushed half a dozen b6/7 s4 motors over the edge in their testing. Same for the B5. Why is he acting surprised or like this is some bad thing? ( I guess if your business model was to borrow customer cars and practice on them like this pnw shop owner does, blowing a motor could be reputationally damaging. He recently found out how much torque the b5 block can’t handle by destroying killer00s4’s motor on the dyno ironically. The customer doesn’t seem to mind but this is what I mean…practicing on customer cars!!! To me that’s fucking shocking)

  3. How the hell else do you know what a car can handle if you aren’t willing to break parts?

So anyway, just thought I’d post this as I thought it was hilarious and telling about the Quattrofail shops.

Maybe jhm will let us know what is up with the rs4 program while they respond to these crushing allegations that they were (GASP!!!) testing and ultimately advancing the platform lol

Well that website isn’t always the hot bed for good information but what website is? Not sure who the greatest Dyno sheet printer is but, sounds like he knows less about what’s going on and more about what he wants people to think. I think its great that someone stood up and wanted to make sure the forums are getting factual information, if that indeed is the case. However, most of the time people make up stuff like that because their scared and they want to push bad press in hopes of looking better at the expense of the bad information. Not saying that’s what happened here, but with someone knowing so little and having such a strong stance to contact you about it, it certainly seems fitting, or just impetuous

The simple fact is, if JHM blew up their in house RS4, that would kinda be the concept. Build the car, push the limits, find the limits and make sure your customers don’t have this happen to them. The entire idea of having a shop car is that you do R&D on your car not the customers car. This is what REAL shops do. APR,AWE,MTM etc.

Sorry to say though after several 11 second passes with their kit, they are simply getting ready for stage 3 and then 4. The Vortech blower can put down big power and JHM is gearing up to do that. With deeper inspections on camshafts, new valve design, big port heads and a built motor program. It became time to dig into the motors. Dan’s car just like so many others, was having oil consumption and to do deeper inspections of all the performance parts it made sense to tear the motor down. This came at the same time we are doing our motor inspection. After many passes and many miles we tear down the motor for inspection on the rods cylinder walls and full inspection to make sure there are no stress effects at the current power levels.

As Sakimano said, JHM did this with their B6 Supercharger program. JHM blew up sever motors and eventually backed down the B6 S4’s power from the 500whp to 440whp. Each step of the way JHM would pull the motor and check the rods after X amount of miles.

I know in today’s land of quick sell shops that sell parts off CAD drawings and not actual finished products this concept sounds off but, Yes, some shops actually still do test and still do make sure they are aware of what the impact is on the motor.

Everyone that puts a supercharger on a NA car knows they’re pushing the limits already. Mistakes happen, some motors are not going to be as strong, you can never tell what condition a customers motor is in. Blown motors can happen, shop or otherwise. So, did JHM blow their motor. No, not yet but you better believe they will before they let the customers do the same.

^ Well said.

Wait wait dyno printer. …knowing jack shit. …talking shit…attacking or trying to corner people with solid points and facts…more tuen that trying to shit talk a real successful company and there products…while fucking his customer cars up…saki your talkinv about jason@amd or secterm7 of whatever his troll handle is…

Sure amd is going to try and spread rumors about jhm…amds 3year fail boat blower is still unimpressive and unavailable. …amd knows jhm has already done well and will do well…all amd can amd does is talk shit

I think Saki made a solid statement in another thread that always boggles my mind. Why can’t an indiviual have a favorite tuner/parts manufacturer etc AND still be open or supportive of other companies’ accomplishments? It just doesn’t make sense.

Even if you have a vested interest, you can still be open minded and level headed about things.

I think TTS/MRC has achieved some pretty awesome feats and I think their blower choice and kit are great. Reality is I won’t purchase one from them and I happen to like/support another company based here in the US. So what? I still think TTS/MRC did great work. Cheers to them. I think APR has done some pretty awesome things too. I have friend’s with APR products who are 100% satisfied. Great work APR. People seem to pick “sides” and become blinded to others’ achievements. Why?

My personal main business is printing/mailing & database services. It’s not rocket science. We are a spec of flea shit compared to some of the giants out there. They are technically our competitors. When they do something awesome we congratualte them. Try to mimic the logic behind their success but with our own twist. That’s one of the ways we keep our clients happy, we learn and adapt. Sometimes we even invent, regardless we don’t bash the competition - it lacks class and shows insecurity imo.

There will always be competition, I say embrace it. Without challenges life would be boring. Just my $.02.

Interesting stuff. It just goes to show you why a well designed supercharger kit from a respected tuner is worth more than just the sum of the parts. R&D, done properly, ain’t cheap.
