Fuck cant edit… try this link^

Read post #5 in particular  lmao!!!

I remember those days. That was when people were making outrageous claims about how the tune would perform. Everyone used to jump all over sakimano and labeled him a B8 hater. There must be dozens of threads like that. Funny to look back on it now.

I think el Romano is saying we were wrong back in 2010 and he is trying his best to talk shit.

Let’s go back and look what we said back thrn

  1. that a b8 S4 with just an Apr tune should run 12.5-12.7 @ 110-112

Guess what… We were DEAD ON THE MONEY

  1. we guessed the tune would cost $1500.

Guess what… We were DEAD ON THE MONEY.

  1. that to run 11 second times on the stock blower it would be a long shot and to do so you would have to drive the shit out of the car. .

Guess what… We were DEAD ON THE MONEY . Prime time spent $10,000 in mods to scrape out an 11.93 on pump (that whole discussion was about pump gas performance and dynos) . He’s the only one to ever do it. Nobody else is close.

  1. That some b8 s4 owners would be retards and apply 23-28 % drive train loss to all the dyno results from APR’s high reading hub dyno.

We all know how that turned out lol.

El Romano… Swing and a miss buddy.

I know not a lot of you know me on the audi forums, I’ve only been a member on AZ , AW for about a year, and just joined this site, which I like the most. But I was one of the first members on the ol VWVortex when the 1.8t finally made it to vw’s (golf/jetta platform), and ihave been reading and researching the Audi sites for years as well, so I recognize the names.

I’ve been a mechanic all my life, so I have about 25 years experience on mostly euros. I learn something new everyday, and every time I open another hood. I have invested about $25k in tools, special, specific type, etc… I love my profession and I believe that is what drives me to be a better than average mechanic. It’s always the small things that make the biggest difference…

So what I mean to say is, besides a little bit about myself is, it’s funny how people’s attitudes change, when the facts are out, isn’t it

Anyway, it’s nice to be here, good info, and LOTS, of laughs!!!

Cheers!

Adrian

PS: Finally did the switch, taking advantage of the “Power Play” , big thanks to Colby, Evan and of course, Arin of APR. The feel is MUCH different in many ways, mostly smoother, but even the engine and exhaust note has changed, for the better, imho. I just got the pulley on last night, so after a week of daily driving, I will hit the dyno, and the track, and of course, share the results. And most importantly, the logs  (hope the APR100oct file does close to the 438awhp REVO 100oct, in a safer way)

I don’t get it, was that suppose to be a lulz thread or what?

Did you not realize half of those guys in that thread belong here?

Take away racegas from the B8 and it is far less impressive IMHO, but they are still nice cars.

What facts were brought out? It was all speculation about a tune/exhaust B8, not race gas files with pulley tunes and a hefty mod list…like I said, I don’t get it?

Heh, no, not a lulz thread! I just ran into that thread searching for “apr stg2+ boost”, for some troubleshooting, and I thought It was funny how everyone underestimated the B8 S4 3.0Tsi, especially the DSG cars, now running almost 11s with about $2k in mods.

That is all. No flaming nothing, jeez, go wackoff or something fuck me for having a thought.

Lol - well then it looks like I misinterpreted the purpose of this thread. I thought you were making a point about how the B8 guys’ claims were ridiculous. Who underestimated anything? Isn’t prime the only one making it to the 11s on pump?

lol, we aren’t crucifying you for having a though, but most of what was said in that thread has held up pretty well considering it was all speculation at first IMO.

Almost 11s, still is not 11s…one has went 11s on pump and way more than $2k in mods and most that are close have well over $2k in mods.

I do think that a lot of people are surprised at how well the B8s run, but the pump vs race gas thing is huge.

Ok.

I think your title was misleading as well as the focus directed to # 5. Looked pretty accurate to me especially at a time when the modded B8’s were in their infancy.

Keep us posted on your results and welcome.

Actually to el Romano, almost 11s IS 11s

He posted ages ago that he ran his b8 in the 11s…then later posted that he set a personal best with a low 12… Then when he was called out about the old 11 claim, he claimed someone posted from his account. Yes that sounds reasonable lol.

But hey, he has an ultimate set of tools. Oh and it turns out he has picked up 5 more years of experience as a mechanic in the last 3 months. It was only 20 years when he was pretending to have run 11.9 @ 114

Now im looking for a cltch upgrade and new tires, go figure!

Just speaking for my self here, but when I go to the drag strip, I always want to try to beat my best time. Which means pump gas isn’t a option. Could be a reason more b8 s4’s are not in the 11’s on pump. Although it would be interesting to see what 23 less awhp and 10 awtq would be enough to bump me out of the 11’s.

That’s fine. Nothing to do with the thread though lol.

This thread was started by someone who wanted to trash talk a few of us who were, as it turns out, bang on about potential b8 s4 performance. It’s funny…it’s like tony romano didn’t even read the old thread. Beemercer was right on the money. Prime time went 11.93 with:

Tune
Pulley
Cps+
Intake
Highflowcats
Catback exhaust
Lw rotors
Lw wheels

That’s about $8,000 not including the wheels. He is leaving no stone unturned. He has been to the strip probably 30 times for over 200 passes in his b8 s4…more than anyone in earth.

And his time? All of 7 hundredths into the 11s.

Sorry…I guess I was commenting on some of the comments from the thread.

One more comment then I’m out… Prime’s 200 passes at the strip, how many were on pump? 15-20 if that? Might have a better time then 11.93 if all 200 were on pump.

You’re missing my point ryn

We said to get a b8 into the 11s it would be extremely tough . Beemercer said you’d have to drive the Fuck out of the car to get into the 11s on stock blower. As it stands it takes a pretty healthy modlist and a great driver…as predicted…and the fact that prime time and his extensive modlist and excellent dragstrip knowledge is the only one to do so means Romano is off course and the predictions made in that thread were in fact bang on, not lulz.

He failed.

Got it. My bad.

I’m pretty sure someone on AW was talking about 11s with JUST the tune. Lol.

Really looking forward to the times for APR’s upgraded blower. That RS5 will be amazing.
