Throttle yo-yo effect

When I first bought my car it had smooth throttle control. Now I get a yo-yo effect with the throttle. It has almost an on-off feel when I try to give the car a little throttle or if I let off the throttle. It’s extremely annoying when I’m just cruising in traffic in first gear. I just can’t smoothly accel and decel. Any known causes? My car is a 2004 A4 Quattro 6 speed.

Tuned or no?

No tune. All stock. Coil packs replaced under recall.

I am not sure what is causing your issue, but you may want to try and do a throttle body adaption.

I did the TBA and it seems to have helped. The engine seems smoother now. I need new spark plugs and my snub mount is shot so that doesn’t help but at least there was a noticeable difference after the TBA. Thanks.

Awesome, glad i could help.

JHM have some nice platinum spark plugs and an apikol snub mount for our cars so have a look at those.

How are your coil packs? Do you have the ones that Audi recommends after the recall

The coil packs were replaced by the dealer under the recall less than a year ago.

I’m using the same plugs that are for sale by JHM, though I got them from NAPA. I think the OEM plugs are about the same as they had the same price the one time I had the plugs changed by the dealer and didn’t provide them.
