I’d like to see this as well… RS6r’s look like FT’s larger brothers… generic/china housings… probably generic CHRA’s with upgraded/re-balanced wheels/shaft and bearings. Also curious to see their reliability track record.
Never said they were built in China. Either case look at the facts… generic housings, the price of the kit w/ inlets there is no way there OG BW’s… No matter where the parts come from, they need to prove themselves not only in the performance but in the reliability dept.
They are essentially big boi Frankenturbos… just not built by FT but rather by someone else.
Hopefully they have the same success as FT has, as it’s always nice to have another choice when it comes to turbos for the B5 platform.
Quoted from Keaton@JHM on AZ 07-02-2012 01:30 PM:
“For more information about these turbos please see our product page here: http://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalo…-27t-p-18.html. We’re getting ready to drop the price and do a full release shortly.”
I wonder if that is the price reduction, but haven’t seen a full release posted yet. Either way, competitive pricing.
From what I understand the FTs are just china turbos with better ballecing. The RPs were stright china. From talking to CV and the team that built the RS6 R turbos
The Concept of the RS6 Rs it to take stuff like off the shelf casted parts and then modify them to what they want. Ive seen the difference between the RS6 scrool and the RS6 R scrool and there is a diffenent difference it impressivbe. From there the internial RS6 R components are better then the RS6s and from there they are WAY better then the FT china stuff that has been holding up.
From what Ive seen the JHM team are doing what they have been doing with all there V8 stuff. They make it and then test it on dozzens of cars before they make a release.
While Im not a big fan of the B5s it seems this might be hte thing that they need. A strong well built turbo that is Rs6 or better for a reasonable price.
I agree we should stit back and wait to see how they turn out. It looks good and it sounds like there are going to be several cars comming back soon with actual resultsr
Can you tell us what was so impressive, can you give any info other than how much you have a huge crush on anything and everything involved with jhm’s new turbo? You guys are funny, tials are shit till proven otherwise but you can’t gobble this shit up fast enough now.
So that’s just the turbos, and some hardware, and another $100 for the flange so $2850. That’s K04 pricing, no? Pretty sweet deal if they
a) work
b) last
What would tuning/fuelling add to the bill if you wanted to run these on a stock motor? Then what else would you need to upgrade…intercooling, downpipes/catback…just trying to get my head around the costs on these stage III applications.
well, an RS6R car went 10.8 @ 130 a few months ago. That’s pretty proven.
What’s the best Tial 605 result…an 11.9 @ 116 by a self tuned customer (still no EPL cars in the 11s) and NOBODY from AMD or EPL will step up and post a timeslip? Yeah, I can’t imagine why people are skeptical about the EPL tuned Tial cars and their 500 whp dyno sheets. : How about the Tial 770 boys? Oh yeah, that’s right…nothing but 12 second times other than the one Jfonz 11.1 @ 129 time (that was universally applauded and praised on this site if you forget already. Try page one of the thread you’re currently posting in!). Here’s a few quotes from back in April:
sakimano: Fucking Finally. in all seriousness that certainly validates the Tial 770 setup and whoever tuned it (well, it will when we get those timeslips!) as capable of good things. good stuff dude. I’m happy for your success. 11.anything is great…11.1 is very serious. Will be cool to see how it progresses.
91gl: Much better! About time someone got out there. How much power did that car make?
beemercer: nice, excited to see vids/timeslips
ChrisK: If this is true I would like to add myself to the long list of others that said the same thing saki is saying. We all said it was possible it just wasn’t going to happen with EPL tuning. it.
bangoman: BOOM!
And nobody is gobbling a fucking thing up. Has anyone who you like to paint with the JHM nutswinger brush bought these turbos sight unseen on JHM’s good word? Nope. People are waiting to see what’s what with them. I think RodV8 who lives in JHM’s shop had them on his B5 and that’s it. S6Atron who is tweets4estate’s brother also bought some, but those guys are certainly not on your JHM nutswinger list.
I had a B7 S4 and waited 2 years to put any JHM stuff on my car because I wanted to see if the stuff worked, frankly. Sure they did well on Jay’s car with Jay driving, but what about customers? Once the results started rolling in from customers, I bought tune/exhaust/downpipes/rotors/crank pulley/instake spacers. Parts were fantastic. I’m in the same position now with my RS4…I’m waiting for more results to roll in, and I can be very patient. That’s what you don’t seem to get…nobody, not even JHM, gets a free pass. You have to prove your product and then your customers have to replicate your success, otherwise it’s just smoke and mirrors.
I also think you need to re-examine the post you criticized. ChrisK has sat down with Count Vohn and gone over what makes these turbos work well, and he praised the thought process behind it, but added a caveat in plain black and white that you conveniently missed. Let me help you…
ChrisK : I agree we should stit back and wait to see how they turn out. It looks good and it sounds like there are going to be several cars comming back soon with actual resultsr
FYI when you edit your posts like that it can make a reply no longer make sense…
Anyway, the Jhm car is infact their shop car and like you said I will reserve judgement on the entire package until people are running it. I will reserve judgement on the turbos themselves until I am more familiar with them, at this time I haven’t even seen them in a photo let alone held them in my hand. I am sure as a turbo they will be just fine.
Since it was brought up, how many customer cars ever even got close to jays ko4 numbers of 11.1 or whatever it was?
I feel like people, actually I will just point a finger at Chris here are being very hypocritical at this point in time for reasons I have already stated and in my personal opinion he is not well versed enough in turbo manufacture to be calling these turbos good or bad and I stand by my sentiments that people like him have a huge bias.
Jay’s K04 time was indeed epic. 11.19 was the ET. PinoyS4 ran 11.42 in his JHM K04 race file tuned B5, so his ET was only off by 0.22. He also ran with about 150 lbs more in the car than Jaybquick did though (jay had no exhaust, lw battery, carbon fibre hood, 17 lb wheels etc.) and was admittedly not as sharp a driver as Jason. I believe jaybquick drove pinoy’s car and got a 11.3 out of it, but pinoy didn’t want to take credit for that time. So the ET gap was only really a bit over 1 tenth of a second when you really think about it.
Go have a poke around in here
JHM beiiiinefficientficientficientficientits greatly from being located not far from Sacramento Raceway Park. A track some call fast, but the fact is the track is just at sea level, and norcal gets some dense as hell cold air for them to run in in the fall/winter/spring. You could say the same about ATCO or dozens of tracks around. If Jay ran that K04 car somewhere at 1000 feet above sea level in 80 degree heat for 2000 feet of density, it may be a different story.
Still though, many customers have matched or exceeded the results the in-house cars at JHM have produced. There is no secret sauce. Of the 8 configurations below, JHM was slower than their own customers in 5 of the 8, with the 2 old B5 times being faster (k03/k04) as well as their B6 headers time. The B5 times were simple…jay and Dan were pushing the fuck out of their cars. It’s not that there is one customer who is faster either…there are a few customers ahead of them for some of the configurations. We also can’t forget the modlist on the JHM car is ALWAYS more thorough than on our cars. Even still we’re beating them. My B7 had downpipes/catback/tune/crank pulley/lw front rotors and spacers…and went 12.99 @ 107.8. JHM with downpipes went 12.97 @ 108. The gap was 2 hundredths of a second…but JHM also had 18 lb wheels, LW rear rotors, JHM shifter trio, they powershifted every gear…and I had none of those beinefficientits. Here’s a big list
B5 S4 K03 - JHM 12.28 @ 114; customer 12.42 @ 113 (blitzkreig GIAC tuned)
B5 S4 K04 - JHM 11.19 @ 130; customer = 11.42 @ 122 (pinoyS4)
B6/7 S4 with piggies and bolt ons - JHM 13.03 @ 106; customer 12.89 @ 106.6 (cabracco85 FASTER)
B6/7 S4 with 2.5" catless downpipes and bolt ons - JHM 12.97 @ 108; customer 12.83 @ 106.6 (v8S4ryan FASTER)
B6/7 S4 with JHM headers and bolt ons - JHM 12.70 @ 111; customer 12.88 @ 110 (justincredible)
B6/7 S4 with JHM nitrous and bolt ons - JHM 12.29 @ 117; customer 12.03 @ 116 (cabracco85 FASTER)
B6/7 S4 with JHM supercharger and bolt ons - JHM 11.96 @ 116; customer 11.92 @ 116 (91GL FASTER
B7 RS4 with 2.75" exhaust and bolt ons JHM = 12.29 @ 111; customer 12.28 @ 112.45 (george2000S4 FASTER)
You and I had a ‘discussion’ about this on quattroworld one time…about JHM’s success not being replicated by anyone of their customers. That’s clearly just not the case as the list shows.
You are sort of missing the point on the fact that I don’t disagree with anything you just said. I disagree with his bullshit opinion of the new turbos that he compared to other options. That’s it. This fucking guy has been a torch yeilding villager against tial turbos all because apparently epl can’t tune or something. He has demonstrated to me he understands turbos about as well as my cat.
The link to them doesn’t even seem to work, where are all the fans of the rs6 r getting info from? Is there another place with all this info?
If you are done holding his hand maybe he can enlighten me as to some specifics of the various options.
