Trailer Hitch on RS4

Flame retardant suit is on so I’m ready for this…has anyone installed a trailer hitch on a B7 RS4? I’m wondering if I can use any of the A4 or S4 hitches out there. If not, can anyone recommend a shop that specializes in making custom hitches?

Thanks.

Sorry, can’t edit post - I’d be looking for a shop in Toronto or GTA.

lol

for what?

the RS4 is too low to effectively tow anything trailerwise that is non-customly lowered.

You could get this hidden one that looks like a dick…

Great shop that is local to me. Bet the piece below did not come cheap though…

There is a guy out there with an RS4 that put a trailer on his car to tow a bike. I’ll see if I can find the link and share.

Pretty sure the RS4 manual specifically says not to tow trailers whereas the S4 and A4 manuals give weight limits for towing

Not exactly sure what is different in the RS4?

Damn that rig from the shop in Chicago is really nice. I would love to be able to tow my race car to the track with my RS4 hahaha. My worries are 1. can the transmission handle the load and 2. what kind of tongue weight can the suspension support? I’ll stick with my truck for towing

Are you planning on towing on a regular basis? Do you need just a reciever for a bike mount, or an actual ball for towing?

No flame zjit needed here man…what are you trying to pull. This helps us get more ideas for you

Thanks guys. This isn’t something I’ll do regularly. Maybe 6-10 times a year. I’m thinking of towing a small 4’x5’ or 4’x6’ utility trailer. Class I or II will do. It’s mainly for making runs to the dump at the cottage, picking up a half cord or wood, transporting a set or tires/rims to and from storage, camping, moving furniture. I’ll also be ice racing again this winter so I’ll have to haul fuel, jack stands, tools, etc. I live a pretty active lifestyle and haven’t found a solution since getting rid of my Volvo V50. Wish I could get an RS4 wagon. I don’t expect to haul a payload greater than 400-500lbs.

I’m thinking a hitch like this will mitigate the need to make a custom trailer or modify one:

This is a good thread to have. Been thinking about a hitch on my car

this is the funniest RS4 thread ever.

If this were on AZ it would have been a flamefest from A4 owners outraged that an RS4 owner would use their car for anything other than going WOT to 8200 RPM around corners 100% of the time.

hahahaha that looks like Marc Wallice’s cock, porn star from the 90s. Google him. He had a real aggressive upward curve. He also had aids and earned the nickname ‘Poison dick’ and was banished from the industry after infecting a couple of girls.

I contacted Chicago Performance & Tuning but unfortunately they need a car locally to mock up another hitch. Wanna contribute to the cause?!

Would love to help but not that much! ;D

Yup, my buddy did on his RS4, the same program I did on my S4:
Buy Curt hitch
Cut off little 1.25" hitch that hangs below cross bar
Weld on big 2" hitch above cross bar
Install
Cut honeycomb valence for hitch to stick through
Looks super pro

not sure what they’re rated for towing though? we only use ours for bike racks

mine sucks - the gorillas who installed it drilled about 5 too many holes in the spare tire well, and it’s super flexible

my buddies on his RS4 is awesome, had it done by a trailer shop

Sweetness. Will look into it further. Thanks!
