Turbocharged 617whp B7 (2005.5) ?

So I spoke to a guy tonight who claims his 2005.5 S4 does 617whp. I asked him, ok, is it supercharged or turbocharged? He answered turbo. I asked him single or twin and he answered he didn’t know. He says Pfaff did all the work (approx. $33k). (for non-Torontonians, Pfaff is a fairly high-end dealership).

Now, although I haven’t seen the car myself, he said he was beating vettes and vipers earlier today on the highway (the vettes and vipers were part of this group of exotic cars that often have cruises outside the city) so I’m pretty sure the car actually exists and I’m also guessing it’s somewhat fast (don’t think he would make such claims knowing he could easily be proven wrong from the other guys if he was bullshitting).

He doesn’t know anything about this car from a mechanical stand-point. He’s a dealer himself and picked the car up from someone in his network for dirt cheap and now he’s selling it.

Would be quite curious to know the actual truth behind all of this. I guess calling Pfaff up and asking whether they’ve ever turbo’d a Sprint Blue 2005.5 S4 (sedan) for a supposed 617whp would be doable. Anyone from the area know anyone at Pfaff?

Sounds fishy…and I think you’d be surprised what people will actually lie about. He probably is dumb enough to assume that you know as little as him about the 4.2l S4s. Where was this beast of an S4 during your Convo? He didn’t have pictures of the work or anything? I’ve met plenty of guys who will lie right to your face about things you know first hand aren’t true…maybe they are just complete idiots, but they usually don’t know what to do when you call them out…I mean red flag is he doesn’t know if he paid for 1 or 2 turbos??

hope its true, that’d be cool. but as euro said there are tons of people who will lie right to your face about this kind of stuff, around here its seems like a majority of ‘car people’ will

Maybe I should show interest in buying it and have him get all that info from Pfaff for me :slight_smile:
He got it as is and doesn’t seem to care all that much about the details.

I could make my pretty much stock 2.0T say 600whp on the dyno.

If someone other than CV had the ability to successful tune a Turbo(s) V8 S4, I think we would already know about this said person.

I would like to know what rods they used, unless its an RS6 4.2TT swap which could be possible.

call them or send them a message, say you came across a person trying to sell the car and they mentioned them as the tuning shop and you just want to know any information you can on the car before you consider purchasing it…

it’s not turbo. It’s supercharged. (my theory)

The $33,000 is the only weird part but maybe they gave him some super duper Milltek catted downpipes ($2000) Milltek exhaust ($2000) and a PES or VF supercharger ($15,000). Then they installed it all for him for around $3500 in labour, and our government took their 15% ($3,000) That gets you to $25,000 and some standard over-estimating/story telling makes it $33,000

Someone who knows fuck all (most people) wouldn’t know the difference between a supercharger and a turbocharger…and fitting a single to a V8 makes no sense, so I reckon it is 1 supercharger…an Eaton M90.

Anyone wanna bet?

Your making it sound like the Eaton M90 is capable of making the S4 a Viper killer (Vettes can be easy) =P

The pictures don’t say anything. Just pointing out the number of people who saw the car. I wasn’t there so I don’t know whether he was truly “beating” them or whether they were simply toying with him (i.e. the vettes and vipers weren’t fully pushing it).

Dude, I wasn’t there. Spoke to the guy in the evening. He was driving a brand new Rolls then, not the S4. He also has an MP4-12C (and who knows what else).

Obviously, if I had seen the car in person, I would have asked him to pop the hood and checked things out.

I guess if I call Pfaff, they will tell me that they can also build the B7 S4 motor, since to handle anywhere near Viper beating power, you’re going to need an engine build
