4.2 breathed fire for the first time in the Allroad today! Sounded absolutely rowdy with open headers! Now to get the 2.0t in the RS5 chassis so can move it/get the purple wagon in the garage!
I think I’m going to downsize the turbos from a .83ar down to a .62ish
The lags not the greatest and these antisurge turbos don’t really produce the spool sounds I was after LOL
Car is holding great in the 7-8psi range.
Do I try for 10-12psi? Still waiting on the JHM supercharger kit. Hoping that’s still in the pipeline as I’d like to fab up a nasty set of 5-1 headers and see how far I could push it with the port injection.
Why not add more boost??
I hope JHM is still pursuing as well. A new IM nowadays is halfway to the cost of a JHM supercharger kit.
Not sure how much boost these engines can take, I don’t think anybody does!
I’m at 12° of timing and 8psi of boost. Biggest debate for me is do I increase the timing while keeping the same boost or increase boost and continue to run moderate timing??
I still have yet to turn on the VVTI stuff and tune for it so maybe that should at the very least be first haha
I’m amazed it’s running like it is with no VVT lol That would definitely get my vote for next step.
There are a few of us that know. LOL. Looks like fun
Still enjoying the crap out of it. Haven’t had time to do any work on it, but she’s been rock solid this entire season! Once school slows down I’ll be pulling the motor/trans for some “upgrades”
Does anybody have the factory engine hoist brackets that attach to the head? I seemed to have lost mine.
If you are unsuccessful finding hooks, I can send you CAD DXFs and you can order them on SendcutSend
