Relatively low miles as well. What do you guys think it would cost to fix?

Looks like it’s been sitting a while.
Bummer
A local paint shop quoted me $5k+ to do a full respray with me taking everything apart myself so they can do the rest of the work. Probably $15K easy. So not a minor fix with all the additional labor to fix the million dents. Hell it might be easier to just blast the paint off with blast media then just take a bunch of body filler to fill in the dents and spray over it.
Shame. That is a ton of work. Beautiful car but it’s not 23 worth with that much body damage
to be honest, I wouldn’t touch that. What’s the point?
It should be listed for $12,000 not $25,000,and even then, that’s not going to make sense.
The time and aggravation aren’t worth it. There’s a reason it’s for sale and not going through an insurance repair…it’s not worth it.
I would buy it as a parts car for $8,000 and that’s it. Sell engine, wheels, trans, interior, radio, and parts. It’s still not going to be easy to get $8,000 out of it. It would be good if you needed an engine (low miles). However they’re delusional and asking triple what the parts are worth.
Otherwise, skip. You can buy an excellent 07 RS4 for $30,000 USD.
Couldn’t agree more. I would like to follow the car and see how it turns out.
Looks like a perfect car for a someone that’s looking to get into a low-ish mile RS4 and runs an auto body shop… I.e. me
Only if you could get it for a song and dance. Currently they want much than a song and dance.
Their asking price is ridiculous. I put in an inquiry in about it and if it goes any further will ask for some better pictures to write up an estimate. I’m curious if the salvage title was because of the hail or if it previously had a salvage title then was hit by hail.
exactly
what would that thing sell for at auction…8 grand?
Thanks Jim. It would be interesting to see all of what someone would need to do. I think too many people think fixing stuff like this is very easy. To you I’m sure it probably just a few days and some extra time. For others I don’t think it’s that easy. For the money I think they are way out of realistic range.
More than that. I check out the copart and Manheim auctions online fairly frequently and I’ve seen non driving, front end hits going north of $10k. It’s kinda crazy. My guess is something like this would fetch around 12-13k.
I did get a call from the dealer in NJ yesterday but wasn’t available to talk. She was foreign sounding… Work has been crazy today but I’m going to try to give them a call and get some more info this afternoon.
The sellers are absolutely delusional. Apparently its a private sale and they bought it at an insurance salvage auction. Not sure how that works out if you don’t have a dealer’s license but that’s what the woman told me. The car was totaled from hail damage but they wouldn’t tell me what the insurance estimate was for the repairs. Their bottom line was $23k.
I explained that I ran a collision shop and there was probably 8-10k in retail damage to the car and their asking price was ridiculous. She countered that they got the car appraised and one estimate was $1500, one was $1800 and then one was “more” because they wanted to replace something. I’m calling bullshit. There’s no way that any sort of PDR could be done with that kind of damage. The car is no longer listed so maybe they were able to find someone dumb enough to buy it at that price.
Did a search this morning and found this RS4 in the Boston auction. Anyone recognize it?

wtf happened to that ? looks like the hood blew back at speed and blasted the roof/windshield and the flex blew out the back window. Or a mental patient jumped off the roof of the hospital and landed on George’s car. Or the driver hit a pedestrian or something.
disastrous because the sharp squares of glass nick the fuck out of all the leather and interior surfaces rendering the entire interior a write off. Not to mention the roof/hood/pillars etc.
Supposedly gonna be a lot of the texas flood cars showing up at dealerships in the near future.
Possibly could’ve been a deer, I guess. What is that on the front passenger floor besides the obvious glass, looks like foam or something… Steering wheel is bent pretty badly too.
As long as nothing really ground the glass into the interior and seats there shouldn’t be much damage. On a car with 120k miles on it I’d be more concerned with the normal wear and tear. The dash panel is probably scarred up from the W/S being right on top of it but other than that just take the seats out give it a good vacuum and shampoo and you’re all set.
Good spot on the steering wheel, didn’t see that when I first looked at the car. I would guess a large deer, or two judging by the damage on both sides of hood.
this happened to a guy with an RS4. Interior was destroyed. Screen on RNSe destroyed. All seats destroyed. He ended up cut to ribbons.
The RS4 in the OP could be used as a track rat… aesthetics don’t matter as much then.
Sad but true.
