Anyone had any experience with them? I only ask because they claim to be close to introducing a B8 S4 tune that allows home flashing. Which is obviously something we don’t have at this point.
They’ve been tuning audi/vw for ages–since the first gen 1.8t days.
I know a few folks who have run their tune with no issues. All did road course stuff.
I’m interested in this as well. If their flash also enables left foot braking, it’s a winner in my books!
I like to left foot brake around town, and sometimes when my foot is ever so slightly riding the brake, it feels like I get no power when I mash the throttle (have scared myself a couple times). Take it for what it’s worth…unless there is a better test I could do to verify this?
Meh x2. I almost went with them since so many local places have their product and it’s easy to get a discount on. But it’s easy to get a discount on for a reason.
MRC if your over there isn’t bad. Is MRC better then giac or APR in most cases no. MRC has been a big failure with the RS4 they make crazy claims for useless mods and try to back it up on there dyno. When you actually test the mods MRC says add hp you find out its been just an attempt by MRC to sell parts to people.
Unitronic is the king of the dyno sheets. They almost have never backed up any of there claims ever. They got started with 1.8 stuff and used that fame to try and drive there reputation in other platforms. It’s failed. They have been selling tunes off in house dyno sheets for years. The at home flashing is something they are doing because they have no market share and they realize they won’t get one. Fact is when you want a performance tune for your car you almost always want the best one not the easiest one to get.
In the past Unitronic hasn’t just been a failure in selling dyno sheet stats they have been involved in tuning failed PES projects. They don’t seen to be worried about the end consumers interest they will tune anything if you pay them even if that thing is bad for the car.
Seems like the universal APR forum hate is leading to many jumping to revo and now unitronic. Still no one running a unitronic stg2 car at the strip, but should likely happen soon. No uniconnect like promised, but maybe soon…who knows. I haven’t seen much in terms of tune features, map switching etc. Just the usual forum questions about TD1 and flashing to stock.
Also Unitronic is promising a DSG tune. I’m pretty hesitant to flash my DSG without feeling extremely confident about the calibration, mostly due to all the problems with the B8 mech failures…and in general, the difficulty of drivability for dual clutch trans around town. I would like to have more control over how the trans is configured, ideally retain ADS functionality.
On a side note, a friend of mine got REVO flashed with a DSG tune and he said it’s kind of weird how the rev-limiter works, rather than bouncing off it just kind of weirdly “hovers” at redline. Wonder if that makes an over-rev more likely. Just to clarify - this is when the tune is holding gear and preventing an auto up-shift.
drob, bgm on here was a beta on revo’s dsg… He had it removed… I’ve been working with someone who had the latest revo flash and got logs, flashed back to stock and got logs, and soon to be giac latest and will get logs… He asked to make the post once he has the giac logs and we review… It will be an informative post… Also, check out APR’s facepage post as they posted some DSG stuff the other night…
Unitronic 4+ years late to the game and their big selling feature of flashing at home may or may not happen for all those who want to scam their dealer when the shitty tune they run blows their motor…
You would think people who can afford a $50 000 car would be able to rationally think their way through a lot of things. But then they prove over and over again that it is just not the case
