I just had to replace mine as well. Not a fun job

Just out of curiosity how many miles on it when they started to act up?

Nice! I have access to a press down here, took me about 3 hours.

Mine started showing issues around 52k progressively getting worse, I currently have 56k.

Nice job.

That job is so much easier on a B8 than the older cars!

I was just thinking the same thing, so much easier… I just had the pleasure of rebuilding 3 complete front ends on B5 audi and old passat. … the older ones are actually not that bad either, as long as there isn’t crazy amounts of rust and of course you have the correct tool. (Me)

Thanks for the write up! !

Wondering if this would be covered under warranty. …

How much was just the bushing? New spc control arms can be had for a little over $200

Bushings were $80 for all 4. I found the SPC arms were $200 for the pair on amazon $400 for all 4. Unless I misread the ad.

That’s the pricing I found, some places were 180/side

Gotcha…

Well Bad news, the bushings I replaced turned out to not be my issue. That said the steering response is much more crisp and I can take corners at faster speeds. They were blown anyways and the $80 was well worth it.

I searched around on the A4 forums and found the part I needed to replace are the Bushings in the LCA. Sadly I wont have access to a press in PA so I am just going to buy the entire replacement arm. In the long run will be a better purchase due to getting a new lower ball joint and all.

I’ll keep everyone updated, hopefully this solves highway steering vibration issue :).
