Go drive a new one. I agree if you like turbo cars you cannot go wrong but for me the experience was quite boring and car was almost too composed. I like the old stuff but appreciate the new stuff one of each would be nice ;-).
Also Would you mind pming me where you got that tow hook plate holder I’ve always liked and his one looks more flush then the others
I finally found an S6 about a 45 min drive from me and I ran over as fast as I could a couple days ago. Black on black with 141K miles for $13,500. Thats too many miles for me so I knew right away I wasn’t going to take it home. I have to say it was a piss poor example and fell well below my expectations. The dealer said they ordered a new intake manifold for the thing and would install it. It had good torque but power fell off a cliff at higher RPMs. Waaaaay off. It had a good start and idle but ran slower than my V6 RL imo. Heat soak? (I let it warm-up before driving)? Manifold failure? I brought my code reader along for the ride but didnt even bother with it because the car needed so much work. There was also a suspension issue so I couldn’t get a very good sense of the handling. The body wasnt straight either.
For the price I would expect some issues but man… Anyways hoping to fair better in the 15-20K range.
If the intake is bad the car will stop accelerating at about 4000rpm you really need that second stage so that could have been the issue.
For a good one you probably are not going to find one close. Your going to have to look all over the us and from there just have them send you pictures.
Getting the service records will really help if you do remote buying.
For 18- 22k you should be able to find something decent in 07-08. While miles are fine I’d say sweet spot is 60-80k then drive for another 60k and be o.k.
The interesting thing is 2010 and 2011 low kielqge are still 32k+ which I’m happy about I think these cars have legs in them.
I’d do 100k if maint etc is perfect and it idles decent etc., but it’s not much more for one with under 90k
Also are there any 3rd party suppliers that are willing to sell an extended warranty for this car?
Also is the ECU flashable/tunable via the OBDII port or does this have to be done from the backend through a test bench? Also are there aftermarket cams for the V10 (I already searched but could not find anything)? Thanks.
There are a few good 3rd party warranty companys. others might chime in on that.
There is only one real tune that people would suggest and thats the JHM tune. They are big into the Na audi motors and have been miles ahead of the other tunes. They have an in house V10 that they have been testing and profecting there tune on.
with JHM you can port flash the car with the OBDII port.
