Anything recorded inside the cabin windows up/down? What’s the noise level when you’re off the gas? Any chance of retrofitting vacuum to allow the pipes to be opened/closed with a switch like on some of the older 3.2’s? That would be sweet. Nice work!
Milltek has a nice sounds but lots of the performance people dont like milltek because they make exhaust systems the same size as stock and just replace the mufflers. What you end up with is a company that charges you a ton of money for a stock size exahust system with no crossover and a muffler.
The S4 guys both b8 and B6 and B7 have shown that the millteks dont do anything

It came on the car so im not complaining, It definitely sounds a lot nicer than the stock setup. i doubt a cat-back only would add that much power on these anyway as its not really the bottle neck
^Very much disagree. A proper catback with smooth bends, free flowing x pipe, and proper sizing yields gains you can feel on the s6/s8. We can agree that the headers+ tune probably unlock the most potential, but the stock exhaust (and aftermarket exhausts with similar setups e.g. H pipe and tiny diameter) from the cat-back still chokes the 5.2l…
Throttle response is much better from a free flowing exhaust on these cars. And I wouldn’t be surprised if it netted 20+ whp and 30+ wtq not to mention more power all over the rev range. That’s definitely how it felt to me, and folks that installed the fab speed xpipe exhaust on their s8 felt the same.
I will say that I don’t disagree that the milltek sounds better…But I would attribute much of the sound to the freer flowing mufflers. If I were you I would find a good exhaust shop and have them put together a nice x pipe setup all the way back to the milltek mufflers with 2.75-3’ inch piping. Assuming you are okay hacking up that system 
Btw, here was my car a few years ago, full 2.75’ xpipe from the cats back to stock mufflers. No drivebys and a touch raspy but I enjoyed it…

You can tell the resonators were removed. That freed up section really helps the flow. You can totally hear its over powering the mufflers causeing that uneven flow and the rasp.
Yes I was very suprised with the gains from just the catback on the V10 and I think history would say its a good move to upgrade the exhaust on the Audi. Not only from a proven track stand point but from all the information we have gathered.
My B6 S4 made a big gain on the addition of the catback the RS4 4.2 makes good gains going to the 2.75 and the rs4 has a bigger exhaust already.
The fact is I do think a serious hp gain is made if all the V10 guys were able to get the headers made as my car picked up over 50whp and 50wtq from just headers. Still the catbacks have a big pay off on the 4.2 S4
Here is why I think the bigger exhaust is going to be a big win for the 5.2 V10. The RS4 4.2 has just under a 2.5 inch exhaust stock but when you add a 2.75 inch exhaust the gains are trmendious. Now keep in mind not all 2.75 inch exhaust are the same and making a good working exhaust is more than just pipes.
So the 4.2 RS4 made big gains and JHM with the 4.2 S4 needed to jump up to a 2.75 exhaust when they added the supercharger. The bigger 5.2 has under a 2.5 inch exhaust stock and the bends dont look great.
Yup resonators were removed. I kept the stock mufflers to keep it relatively quiet when just cruising around town. Almost zero drone with this setup, and honestly not that raspy sounding when driving either. I loved the setup.
I will say my cayenne gts with a similar exhaust setup is more raspy. I would post a video but don’t want to clog this thread up with other cars exhausts.

Awhile ago when I was on my pc. mostly mobile. It sounded good at that time though, just wanted to reintroduce my ears to the sound

you say the system is 3k to purchase? Can I buy just the parts off you? I got a lift at home I could put it together myself. Full stainless I assume? what grade? Which mufflers? tig welded?

Countvohn above builds the systems. I dont think its 3k tho. He builds headers for the V10 cars as well. Ive seen some of the work as well as have one of his exahust systems on my car. Full stainless all tig welded nice stuff.
