VAGCom Errors on '09 S6 - Free advice appreciated

I was driving my car fast in “S” the other night to dry it off after a wash when the engine light began to flash on the dash. I slowed down and put it into “D” then the engine light stopped flashing and I have not seen the engine light flash since then. I scanned it today and got the following errors. Any experts here who can help me understand what is going on?

Another issue I have is bad gas mileage, even on the highway. After new plugs and filters it still averages only 15-16 mpg. This may be common with a V10 but I thought that it would be better on long HW trips. Do any of these error codes point to anything?

Well your in the right place for help.
The flashing was from your motor getting massive amounts of misfires.

The fault came at WOT it was just isolated to cylinder number 2. So that’s a good thing. Usually the first things to check are the cool packs and plugs.

You are over 62K miles right?

Have you changed your fuel filter? They look like they are similar to the B7 cars.

Check your intake manifold since it seems like a lot of them have been failing recently.

could be a shot in the dark. when I first bought my S6 I filled it up at shady gas station in the middle of nowhere… had misfires and check engine lights for a few tanks after that then it was ok once I cleared the codes.

I’ve not had a misfire since. So I chalked it up as bad gas.

I also changed the fuel filter when I got home, so that could be the other issue.

Thanks Guys. I have heard that remote gas stations can have bad fuel since they don’t sell a lot of premium fuel. I did go to a sketchy one off of the HWY last weekend… maybe that was it! The fuel filter will be replaced soon too.

On a VAG-COM note, I tried to clear the codes after scanning it yesterday but they wouldn’t go away. Am I doing something wrong or does that mean something?

Finally, this car has had bad road noise from the front since it came to me a few months ago. It came with Pilot Sport A/S 3’s which have good tread but were made in 2012, so over 2.5 yrs ago. I tried swapping back to front and that just made matters worse. New tires might be the answer. Any other suggestions? Should I expect a certain amount of road noise due to stiffer suspension in the S6 than my previous A6’s?

I’ll search for tire threads in a moment.

Road noise is tied to your tire selection in several cases. Try adding more air and then removing air to see if that moves or changes the noise.

As for the codes. The code might have been stored in a different ecu location then you were in. Go into ecu 1 and then go into ecu 2 to see if there are any other standing codes. Clear them both
