Anyone know what exactly I would need to change to get those stupid orange lights in the bumper to not light up anymore? Haven’t had a lot of time since buying this thing to mess around with the VAG Com to figure it out yet. Finally got my chrome trim wrapped in black, and car is going to the body shop at the end of the month (moron kicked his door open after parking next to me, while I was IN the car. Talk about an anger management example…), and they’re going to spray them to match the body for me, so I wanted to know if there’s a way to code out the lights themselves, so they don’t light up anymore.
Can you take a picture for me so I know exactly what you want to turn off.
If not try
Vagcom - select module - headlights - code.
When in if you have the full version of vagcom VCDS you can hold the cursor over the numbers in the module coding. It will bring up several options. Before you do anything save your current code and from there select new code options hitting do it after each change. Test and then see. You should see an option for no parking lamps.
It’s in the (17) Instruments… You have to put the car in US or Germany so you can go back to Central Electronics and disable “Side Markers” or “Corner Lights” sorry if I’m going off memory, did this on my car.
If it’s set to Canada they are automatically turned on with the daytime running lights as part of that regulation.
Good help. Karma For YOU. I wasn’t sure if it was instruments or headlights. All the 08 cars I have helped with seem to have a lot of adjustment in the headlight module
Thanks guys. Got an “unknown error” when hitting Do It, buy got the same when trying to code it back. That was for the central electronics module, instruments took the coding change fine. That said, when coding central electronics to RoW, those lights do turn off, even though it gives an error.
Will do when I get the time to hook up again and see the exact coding numbers again. What I had to do, was just what was explained above. I went into “Instruments - 17,” and changed the coding to “RoW.” After that, going to “Central Electronics” and trying to go change it through “Adaptations” yielded nothing, (Canadian coding, legal reasons?); wouldn’t even let me change read/test. Changing the coding on it through “Coding” to “RoW” as well yielded an “Unknown Error” after clicking on “Do it!” but the orange lights were no longer on. Going to “Adaptations” and checking the channel for the bumper lights showed it was off. Also, changing the coding back to “Canada,” “USA,” or any other region yielded the same error code. Left it on the “RoW” coding, no issues since.
