Vagcom question

I asked my friend this, and he doesn’t know of a way to do so…so curious if this is possible at all:

For those who fiddle with Vagcom, has anyone found a way to disable traction control by default?
Flame me if you wish, but please tell me if there’s a way

lol, I don’t think Audi would even think to provide this option ;D

You could always pull fuses and throw codes :stuck_out_tongue:

As an aside, I’ve coded my ADS to only have ‘dynamic’ and ‘individual’ modes, and always start in dynamic mode (the engine/trans map will always default to ‘D’ despite whatever ADS setting you leave the car in).

LOL horrible!
Ok fine, I give up :frowning:

My car auto starts in the last setting I left it at already–so it’s always in dynamic.
I don’t have individual though (I guess you need the upgraded MMI to get that). I wish I could get individual (I guess unlockable via vagcom). The steering is too heavy and dead feeling on dynamic. Everything else is great though!

How much of a difference do you notice when going from ‘auto’ mode to ‘dynamic’ mode with the throttle mapping? Obv it’s a lot more apparent in with the shift map on the s-tronic. On my car, even if you leave the car in dynamic when turning it off, and it starts in dynamic, the throttle map is in auto mode. You can only tell by the delayed throttle response or trans shifting. This is confirmed by looking at the trans mode in the DIS screen and noticing it says ‘D’ instead of ‘S’ at the bottom.

Wow really?
That’s weird! I didnt know s-tronic would reset the throttle map. It cannot be over-ridden?

The difference between auto and dynamic on a manual car is HUGE. The car is totally neutered in auto mode. The throttle response is slowed–but it’s not only the response, it’s throttle “curve”.

IE: if you go from 10% throttle suddenly to 30% throttle, in auto mode, it’ll gradually ramp up from 10 > 15 > 20 > 25 > 30%. So despite your foot instantly going from 10% to 30%, the car gradually gives you that 30% over time. Likewise when you let off the gas, it slowly closes the throttle butterfly.

VS in dynamic, if you go from 10 to 30, you get 30 right away. And if you suddenly let go of the throttle, it closes the butterfly just as quick as you release the pedal. So with that in mind, auto mode definitely is EPA friendly, as it hangs the throttle and keeps gas application very linear (read: not spikey). vs dynamic it gives whatever you input…so it’ll eat more gas.

In short, dynamic is much closer to drive by cable.
There’s still a big difference between dynamic and drive by cable though–and that’s outside of the throttle butterfly itself. It’s how the fuel mapping is done. Engine braking in a modern car is significantly reduced compared to ones of old…because it doesn’t cut fuel as abruptly when you let off the gas.
