Vagcom upgrade fields...

FYI… if anyone upgrades to VCDS 11.11 all the fields changed for the B8… Old on the left and new on the right… Caught me off guard at the track but I think I have all the critical ones x-refed… If you are serious about your car you should be logging it when you drag race, road race, or just beat on it… I digress…

Also, the new version allows for 12 fields to be logged in turbo with grouping as I had some issues with the last version with it not working with 8+ fields… maybe it was me?

Here you go…
VCDS Description VCDS 11.11 Block #

Hope this helps… Let me know if I am wrong on any or there are ?'s… later Ron

that sucks. Good of you to post that up to help.

Just switching from the B7 S4 to the B7 RS4 is annoying. Logging is totally different, and the RS4 has two ECUs (one for each bank) so it’s even more cumbersome.

great post very helpfull to the soon to be comming new guys im sure. its crazy how each new year seems to move stuff around

have we figured out a way to do some presets ron?

Thanks Saki and Shawn… figured I can save a few minutes for some folks hunting them down… helping each other is what were here for anyway…

Richi, Sorry man no luck… I’ll play around with it over the holiday as it is supposed to be nice and I want to do some tranny loggging…

Just logged on at home and there was a vagcom update… v11.11.3 I didn’t drive the car and test but with it running I was able to sample all 12 fields, turbo, and grouped… sample rate was great… It let me hit log and start and was getting data but I DIDN’T drive the car… Still logged 12 fields, car running in my garage, and data collected… lol This is awesome since 11.11 limited it to like 7-8 fields… Putting on the Alu Kreuz and BBK thur. so I’ll try it then along with this vbox device… track sat. Can’t wait…

Love how the forum warns it’s been 120 days since this post had a reply, do you really want to reply idiot! lol

Let me know if u need help with vbox. It’s pretty easy to use. U can download user manual online too.

Don’t forget to download performancebox tools software for your pc to analyze your data.

The vbox screen sometimes is optimistic in reporting results.

Fileds are changed for 2013 and 11.11.2

Engine Speed - 17
Ignition Angle actual - 208
Intake Manifold pressure absolute - 329
Intake air temperature - 515
RFP_AV - 608

I started a thread where a 2012 had the same fields as the above but we were unable to save any of his logs.

Are you able to save your logs?

Yes, I did. Actually I was trying to check how blow-off valve behaves for 2013 MY, as there was a rumor it stays shut. Here is a cross-post from AZ:

As I am new to logging, the quality of my logs is not that good - a lot of non-WOT values and very few WOT sub 3500 RPM values
However even this log shows valve opens as it used to do. It starts to open somewhere between 3000 and 3500 RPM.

Then it opens quickly:
at 3553 RPM it is 7.46% opened
at 3865 RPM it is 10.12% opened
at 4784 RPM it is 14.43% opened
at 5513 RPM it is 15.86% opened
at 6034 RPM it is 22.84% opened
at 6374 RPM it is already 27.45% opened

Max boost I saw was 10.89 PSI at 4513 RMP, valve 8.38% opened - this was just after gear shift, looks like valve just was not quick enough to open, or VCDS not quick enough to log
Typical boost at this RPM is 9.34 PSI

Boost at 6374 RPM was 6.8 PSI

Ignition angle is quite high - I saw 24.75 degrees at 6374 RPM

If somebody is interested in my logs or more logs, just PM me

that thread was awesome. The one guy surmising the boost valve is closed based on butt dyno…the other guy going on and on about how the B8 S4 bored him until he drove a stasis tuned/catback B8 S4, and then quoted the power gains promised by stasis etc.

We all know that the stasis tune is a neutered 91 octane tune and these cars on 91 tunes are barely any stronger than bone stock tune on 93

Alll in all, the B8 S4 forum is moving sideways, not forwards. That is funny to watch. Looks like Lou is selling his B8 S4 for an S8 and wants to sell everyone about it every chace he gets, even trolling the RS4 forums in order to do so. Unfortunately nobody is stroking his ego by loving his car, since nobody driving an RS4 or B8 S4 really wants a 205" long luxo-barge, no matter what engine is in it.

It is golden entertainment over there.

You guys are still missing out…there are 1 good thread for every 50…but for real entertainment, you should check out what the RAI guy is saying about water injection for the S4. “night and Day difference”, “make 70 hp”, lol!

And still the guy who was trying to develop a racing brake kit in conjunction with the AZ members gets his thread deleted to protect the AZ members…

Who is that??? Clint?

Fixed

Truth…

Hey thanks Vi for testing that out. That’s a helluva lot of bypass…mind you I haven’t done stock logs much, I guess. When you get the tune and finally feel 12-13 psig (or 15+ on stage II) you’ll love it. Are you going with the first available flash then, or are you waiting for one vendor in particular? Are you going to run 100 octane at all?

I got a really good chuckle out of that thread, almost wanted to question him but it wasn’t worth the time.

People are worried about their TD1’s enough, and now they are going to start squirting liquid into the SC?

It mostly depends on availability of tunes in Russia
I was even considering a piggy-back from JDE, but Alex@TAG said GIAC tune for 2013 is very close to release. I think this means other tuner are there as well.

Actually, I am thinking of APR with pulley (St II), as their results look most consistent - Revo gives more from the first sight, but I am concerned about latest Tsivas summer testing where Revo numbers dropped a lot from impressive winter numbers.
If only APR make use of a bit higher ignition angle, it would be a no brainer

Unfortunately, there is no 100 octane option where I live, so I do not think I would make any use of it.

sounds like the standard sponsoring vendor racket (i.e. a standardized add that is listed in every subforum with the same results for everyone)… iirc rai or some other vendor used to try to sell a water meth kit in the b6/b7 s4 section with the 30hp+ gains claim lol

Just be patient and wait till all tunes are available to decide

The car is excellent stock so waiting shouldn’t be too much of a problem
