VagLife's USP 3.0 super slow build

That car is still ugly

Well I can’t catch a break. Had a dog run in front of my car last night n destroyed driver side of my bumper, cupra lip is gone n fog light busted. Back to body shop.

Damn dude, it sounds like the animals around you are the ones that need to catch a break since they seem to loose their life and you only loose an insurance claim…Sucks your car was damaged tho, I was curious how your last paint came out… was the blending of the black not very noticable? cuz I know black is hardest color to match. And being this damage is to the front which takes on the most wear and tear it might be a good idea to consider painting the whole front end and blend onto the doors. Just a thought… post some more pics!

Black is actually easiest. Especially a jet black. No pearl or flake makes it really easy. Can actually paint each panel separately m at diff times n not see diff. What sucks is last wreck I actually payed outta pocket to have front bumper shaved n fixed. Oh well. I think animals have something against my car.

really now?

A member over on AZ that I have met/talked with a bit (fatbrembos) got a set of coils from BC racing since he is in FL and knows them pretty well. After talking to him I am kind of sold on them. He can get them for a decent price, you can get any kind of custom springs/spring rates, and the shocks are adjustable (while on the car).

I haven’t ever heard of anybody else using them. Honestly I’d never heard of them until he got a set.
What’s your opinion of them? Any drawbacks you’ve found?

None at all. Theyve been around for years. I got mine right after I bout the car. My buddy ran em on his e36 m3 n ordered em for his e46m. His gf has em on her e39m, my other boy has em on his 370.

If I was to do it again id have started with rates I have now. Even with extreme rates rides nicely. Stiffer than stock but not too much. The only other coils id consider.are Fortune Auto.

Well got car back outta bodyshop n looks really clean but now its having hard time starting n on start up I got white smoke from exhaust till it warms up abit. Awesome -___-

Pics?

finally got around to ordering all the covers in the engine bay. i love the clean encased look. now to detail bay so its all clean n shiny

Man, that looks dusty as hell.

Yeah its pretty bad. I’ve been lazy on cleaning it or getting it cleaned.

I am about to do mine too. How are you going to go about cleaning it? I’ve read and heard many bad things can happen and you need to go about it in the right way as there are a lot of things you don’t want water in. Someone told me the best thing is get a spray bottle and a rag and bushes and go at it.

I know a few people that do detail work usually just take it to them. When I do it myself I just go to car wash n let it kinda mist on it n wipe it down. Spray bottle would work too

Let the car sit so its completely cold and don’t drive it for a while after I do this.

I take all the platic covers off except the battery cover.
Then I hose the engine bay off around the engine not to soak the engine.
Then I use a wet microfiber towl and small brush to wipe down any grit.
Then I rinse the engine bay lightly.
I have heard there is a mild engine bay degreaser that works great but haven’t tried any.
Let the car sit to dry off or if You have an air compressor to blow the excess water
from the engine bay thats great.
$79. K-mart http://www.kmart.com/campbell-hausfeld-2-gallon-air-compressor-with-accessories/p-010W004050363000P?prdNo=9&blockNo=9&blockType=G9
I’ve seen it on sale for $69.
I use it to dust out the inside of the car also.

There it is for what its worth.

Good Luck…

Purple power is my fav degreaser

Is that harsh on plastic parts or hoses in the engine bay?

its harsh on aluminum/copper/galvanized steel if let it sit on it; I would be surprised if it damaged other stuff as well. The key is to degrease, then rinse thoroughly immediately after

haven’t been here in awhile. only real update is wheels are back on and i am bagged. install done by drew dorbritz
