Saw this puppy pop up on gmhightech, seems like a win win. Efficiency of a conventional centri blower but with better area under the curve ala positive displacement setup.

Pretty cool. Prochargers are ridiculous.
Funny how they advertise et and mph gains, as well as crank hp gains.
I thought the dyno was the way to advertise performance parts ?
sounds interesting, will have to watch the video later. I’d always thought it would be cool to develop a small cvt style gearbox for a blower so you could infinetly vary the impeller speed. open the throttle 100% and use the transmission to vary impeller speed and consequently air mass to meet the output request.
I just watched the video and it seems like they use a two speed motorcycle transmission to drive the centri.
But an infinitely variable system would probably work better like what you had mentioned.
Another way that they could do it is by using variable vane technology on the centri. Since a centri is a belt driven turbo it shouldn’t be that hard to swap the technology over. Plus a centri probably doesn’t see the extremely high temperatures that an actual turbocharger would see.
