JHM LWFW/clutch combo + Zingomod = my car wanting to eat everything else on the road and spit it out? or was it because i hadn’t driven my A4 for over a month and just forgot how fun it is to drive?
-
If the photo I attempted to attach actually attaches…does that timing belt need to be changed? I don’t know if it was ever changed, and i don’t know what is considered “bad” for condition (besides an obvious severe break/crack).
-
Why does it seem like anytime I go above 4k RPM my engine (3.0/MT) doesn’t feel like it can handle it (sounds stressed), but i see a lot of the videos on here and other places getting to 6.5k rpm with no problems, no stress?
Replace it.
When was the last time it was changed? if ever. The belt can and will stretch over time. This can cause your timing to move a little bit but you shouldnt notice it. Im really about keeping my cars up to par, since I blow motors before wearing any other parts haha.

Bit of both! I went for a month without mine (when it was stock) and it felt like a new car going back to it.
-
Hard to tell from pics, you wont know just by looking at the belt. No service book? It’s ugly when it breaks man…
-
Stock ECU? That’ll do it. I remember I hated revving mine all the way because it sounded like it was sick. The videos were probably of tuned cars, the powerband on the stock ECU seems to be from like 3000-5000, then it just complains that you are pushing the gas pedal in too far.
- aye, I like!
- did you click the pic to get a closer look? small hairline cracks…no service records found, dont know when it was ever changed.
- yes, stock…described it to a T…sick…
I’d bite the bullet and just get it changed, what’s your mileage? if its over 60 or 70 and you are unsure then do iiiiit.
Yea, the stock tuning stinks at the higher rpms. Make sure your coils and plugs are fresh, and get it tuned. Then post a video! I haven’t seen any clips of the 6speed guys with an ecu tune.

& 3. I wish I had a manual. But meistah nailed the point on what happens after 3k rpm, it’s just all noise
-
Change the belt. Just do it. If you want to see what happens when a timing belt slips see my thread for the horror (mine tb didn’t go but the result will be the same new engine)
1 lightweight parts in the right spot are always going to do that. The fact you have a LWFW on the already dragged down 3.0 has to feel like she it light on her feet now.
- when in doubt change it. Never guess or look back. not changing it has much larger issues then changing it.
3 I agree stock the car seems like its just over working and is just sik. add the JHM tune and a solid exhaust and you will see a different animal.
Make sure to look over the car to see there is nothing wrong with it first. If it all checks out then your in need for some JHM calabration loven
