Vibration Under Load

This is a new one… Experienced it driving to work and back home today. Car vibrates while driving, mostly when accelerating and going up a hill, sometimes when coasting. Also noticeable suddenly is letting the car glide to a stop (no brakes applied) theres a subtle squeaking sound. Found someone with the same problem here:

But no resolution. I’ll get it on jacks tomorrow and take a look (not that I would know what to look for lol)

My car did that twice once it was my hanger bearing other time was a cv axle joint breaking

I’d hope its just a joint!

I jacked the car up to take a peek… everything looked OK to my amateur eyes. I got my winter tires put on (performance winters hell yea! :P) and it has seemed to be stable, maybe it was just a crappy tire. I’ll keep an eye on it.

Yeah could be, hopefully thats what it is

Appears to be the axle joint, getting it fixed tomorrow.

Car drives like a champ but still vibrates under load, laaaame. Android did you get your snub mount bushing replaced? The car is running fine so I’m no longer worried about it as a performance issue, just a large nuisance.

Edit: A “worst case” scenario suggested to me was that the transmission doesn’t properly engage/disengage something when put into drive. I find that one unlikely as my transmission as it seems to be functioning fine.

do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel… this is generally a drivetrain issue if you do.

It feels more like the whole car as opposed to just the wheel

I had vibration and my mounts were shot and changed em all. But, im pretty sure the shop that
did my mounts never set the snub mount right. Im tiptronic, so id get a ill vibration in drive with my foot on the brake and less in park. Was good in neutral. check your snub!

I also had a shake in car when I hit the gas a few different times. First time was the hanger bearing and a bad ujoint…replaced under warranty. Then I had shake was bad tires, also my cx axle went bad when I was driving (shook like a mofo, lucky I was 2 miles from home and limped it along at 10mphs). And of course coil pack shake when they started to go bad and id hit the gas.

I’m tip as well. My snub looks ok, but I think an upgraded one will help. Do you still get more vibration in drive when braked at a stop as opposed to idle?

I just had my axles and a tie rod replaced, I was told nothing was wrong with any bearings. However I’m having some other minor issues now with occasional shaking under acceleration, hoping its not crappy new axles or anything. I’ll check plugs and coilpacks for that.

I hate taking my car into a shop… one thing gets fixed and 2 more break. Too damn cold outside to do much wrenching on my own though.

I went thru 2 r/s axles before i gave in and spent the money on a raxxle, I had a slight vibration in that corner
since I bought the car I bought 2 cheap $100 axles still slight shake and they busted from being low. I bought raxxles, put it on 20k ago still smooth, got rid of that slight vibration and the boots are holding up great.
Engine vibration started outta no where, with vibration in drive with foot on brake, and got worse. I looked at the snub was destroyed, so I paid the shop to change it and put a apr in. When I got car back still had stupid vibration in drive with foot on brake, but in N its almost lexus like with slight vibration…so ive just been dealing with it for last 30k. But its getting old slappin that ish into N at a light, my car is up on jackstands in pieces.
I would check make sure snub is good, and that no sides are touching the bracket. I also had one bad trans mount, that of course smoothed out car

Interesting. I’m going back to this shop and complaining about these axles. One of them was defective the first time, which they replaced for no extra fee. It felt fine the first few days but as of last night and today it’s starting to feel a bit wonky. Sometimes it feels perfect and others it feels a bit shaky.

I’ll try snub mount as well. Seems like you were/are in the same boat as me.
