video: stg2+ S4 vs RB 335

335i n54 with dci intakes, exhaust, DPs, RBs, fmic, JB4 on auto tune running e85/93 mix (i think thats all of it) vs a B8S4 with lw brakes f&r, testies, miltek res, apr stg2, roc euro intake stock clutch.

40 roll, vid is cutoff but thats about where it ended, S4 pulled a few more feet after it was cut off but still lost.

Nice run bro! Bring him out to the test track I wanna run it. lol

forgot to add, 1oo oct for the S no tools/spare and lw wheels.

Thanks Pete, working on it

What is an RB 335?

RB is an aftermarket turbo brand.

http://www.rbturbo.com/

It seems they modify the existing turbo’s on the 335. I’m a little suspect about it’s performance improvement as I didn’t notice any HP/TQ increase claims customary with most upgraded turbos.

Non the less very impressive showing by a bolt on S4!

Guy says that he should be around 420-440 rwhp according to what other forum members say. Forgot to add that there was a camera guy in his car too. I was pretty damn happy, I think I held in there pretty good considering.

That’s insane man!

Your car is flying if he’s putting down that type of power and you basically hung on his fender in a roll race.

Because dynos matter lol.

Some of the 335 cars do really well… Most of them don’t. They’re like B5 S4s. There are a few truly incredibly fast B5 S4s and 335s…and then there are a whole bunch of disappointing ones that glom on to the success of the few as if it is their own.

JB is pretty tame isn’t it?

That 335 would struggle to run 12.50 @ 113. It makes sense that a well modified B8 S4 would give it fits. The B8 is a nightmare because it’s so good, and it’s always within 99.5% of its best. It just doesn’t have a bad run it seems. I’ve been to the strip with you 81 and a few others and I’m always shocked at how you guys throw down 7 timeslips within a tenth of your best of the day. That’s why in these race videos, the B8 catches so many people off guard. Throw in a manual transmission C63 or M3 or something with mods that ‘should’ be fast…and then it’s getting blown away by a B8 and people start getting confused.

Not confused… Apexit has a mod list comparable to my old S4 and he was on race gas so he’s trapping 117-119 in the 1/4mile maybe higher as he’s MT. I think rwd cars tend to have trouble with the ET at that the strip because it’s harder to hookup a rwd vs AWD. Especially because these guys modify it to increase power before they learn how to get the power down. lol. Anyway, I’ve always felt the S4 was a bit ahead of the 335 when they both are equipped with full bolt-ons (not including meth, nos, etc.) so for a full bolt-on S4 to be right with a full bolt-on 335 with upgraded turbos I think that’s something to be proud of.

They quattro + DSG is a nasty combo at the strip!

I agree with bear regarding the two cars mod for mod. As far as track times he went last year before the fmic and turbo upgrade. I think it was a mid-high 12 around 110-115, I’ll see if he can dig up the slips if you’re curious. He was on a drag radial and had no idea how to launch, bogged most of the time.

We did a few runs from a dig and I would put bus lengths because he can’t modulate the power yet (275 street tire)

Nice job keeping up with a decently modded 335 OP!

Exactly what I was referring to. A B8 S4 with tune pulley and intake would likely have crushed that 335 when he was there last year.

Once though, I was at the strip and there was a mildly modified (tune/exhaust/intake…running pump gas) that was running high 12s, low 13s. A nice white sedan.

I was going through the staging lanes and saw the car beside me but there was an extra car so I asked the 335 guy if he wanted to run. He said yes and and let the car go.

So me against the 335 now, pretty even race, right? Wrong. The fucking thing EXPLODED off the line and put about 15 car lengths on me lol. I couldn’t figure it out till I got my timeslip (12.8 for me…11.3 for him) and was rolling back to the staging lanes when I realised…there were 2 white 335 E90.

I had a similar experience but I was on the opposite end. One of the day’s we were at the track a modded IS 350 wanted to run another equivalent semi lux sedan so he asked me to run in the staging lanes… sure… I let another car pass me and we lined up… Not think about R/T I went through my normal routine and he easily tree’d… within a few seconds I had caught him, then past him, then continued to pull a few bus lengths. After the pass I continued back to the staging lane to continue to hot lap my car and he left for the pits. lol! Can’t just a book by it’s cover.

Anyone who was with me at ATCO last year may remember Marty and his N54-motored buddies. Many including Marty didn’t run because they thought it was too cold, but reality was that they were getting punished by us…

When I ran REVO that I day I had the most fun matchup, a CTS-V that was doing mid-12s at low 120s. We ran neck and neck 3 runs in a row, he pipped me every time by only 1/2 a car or less, I have some go-pro of that on my roof and fender somewhere. Then the car blew up lol.

Must have been a lot of fun! Reminds me of the time I ran a 12.1@115.87mph at Atco in my S4 on pump 93.

I remember the ATCO day, it was pretty chilly. I also remember that the 335’s weren’t running the numbers I expected

I know the B8 is fast, but it’s tough to imagine the race was that close. The RB shop car was trapping at 129 I think. I’d wonder what the 335 ran in the 1/4 (if he’s run it there).

Like i said this car (not sure if it’s all 335’s) is weird. a few nights before he put bus lengths on me. That night on 93 he had a few cars and then i got 100 and he refueled and thats the result. He’s on a 40%mix, I assum 40 e85 60 93
