Between reading about the failures of the engines and known weak links of the transmissions/flexplates, im hesitant… but I’m willing to at least try since I have a spare engine sitting around.
Do you also have the Aluminum V8 engine cradle?
No, I made this one out of some stainless steel. It’s on rubber casters so super easy to move around.
I was thinking more along the lines of the Aluminum engine cradle for the car? That stand looks amazing, you should market those.
VPS has told me the car REQUIRES Loba HPFP’s (which he conveniently sells). $2300 seems a little steep for me… couldn’t I just run JHM or IE upgraded plungers? Last I checked JHM Supercharger doesn’t even require upgraded HPFP’s.
It’s a bit of work but if the engine is still out I’d consider pulling the bottom end and changing the Rod bearings which are the most common engine failure. For the Flex plate just use the Audi S4/S5/S6/S7 flex plate, it is stronger and only weighs about .5lbs heavier.
I’m running the JHM Header/Catless Stg2+ file and my fuel trims are good, just slightly on the rich side where it’s safe to be.
As far as the Rod bearings go, I’ve seen two engines myself with Rod bearing failure, both were abused, one made it to 99k but later in it’s life the owner looks like he gave up on oil changes more often than Audi’s ridiculous 10k intervals, the other was a 26k engine that had been stored poorly and some condensation in the engine. When I installed my 27k engine I decided to be extra safe and installed a new set of King rod bearings, the OEM bearings showed more wear at 27k than most enignes show at 75k.
I’m still balls deep in my purple S6 Avant. The Allroad is currently running and driving a
And I’d like to keep it that way. I just need upgraded HPFP’s
