Warning: RS4 bashing inside

Great choice G Rat.

I can’t keep count on the number of comments and conversations I’ve had with people regarding the looks and sound of the RS4. From cops at gas stations :-X, to enthusiasts that give you the thumbs up, it’s an incredible car. Just last week I did a hard launch from a light and had a 5.7 HEMI pickup pull up beside me at the next light and tell me my car is hella’ fast…

GL with sale.

It’s a tough choice if you already have a B6/7 S4. Like someone said above, if you take the money you would spend on upgrading to an RS4, sink it into your S4, you’d have one pretty insane ride.

Except that money would be gone and you’d never recoup it if you sold it.

Put that money into an RS4, and you will hold some value for resale or residual later.

Of course the other intangibles like widebody, wider track, suspension setup, wheel setup aren’t even reproducible on the lesser model.

And then there’s us Avant freaks…

Spot on Bangoman…

It really is a tough decision. When I think about what $20-25k could get me in the S4, I get so excited. Built motor, headers, stage 2+ JHM SC… etc. The car would be a monster.

But then I think about the value of my car in say 5 years. The idea of a $5,000 car with $25k in mods makes me sad.

Also, I already feel like the B6 is becoming slightly aged looking (sorry to other B6 owners). Much like the B5. I think the RS4 will have a better chance of being relevant looking in 10 years. And if not, it’s still a super rare piece of automotive art that I will always be able to appreciate.

And now… it’s official. On AZ… if this doesn’t work Ebay?

I really need the weather to clear up so I can put up some more pictures.

#b5problems

That’s why all the b5 guys are so upset all the time

This is truly a problem with any car…I’ve seen guys sink $25k into 4th gen camaros, and it’s just to be another 9 or 10s camaro. It’s nothing really new and those cars will never be worth shit unlike their predecessors.

Well at least Rodmar offered you 12K already. I f*cking hate that guy and his low balling of every add. Are you looking to get into an RS4 right away if you sell or save for a year or so and then get into one?

Oh, glad he has a history of this… not exactly sure how to react to that, my first reaction wasn’t nice.

I will probably wait for a year or so, then try to find something. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t jump on the perfect car if it came up 6 months after selling mine.

Haha… don’t want that. Makes sense I guess.

just take your time looking … took me 6 months while i was deployed in Afghanistan to find my RS4. Sold a pretty quick STI to get it. Yea its still stock have no plans on really modding it (got a WRX to play with) take your time look around an be willing to travel to get it… i got lucky mines was in austin and the dealer shipped mines to me for free.

Well… I have a full price offer from AZ but smells like a scam. Person wants to send a cashiers check and send their “representat
ive” to test drive the car.

I said, “won’t let the car go unless the cashiers check clears with the bank first or your ‘rep’ brings cash”.

Thoughts?

Obvious scam is obvious. Tell them to meet you at your work (at the police station).

damn, I wonder if I come off as a scammer… used paypal to buy my last car lol

Did you offer cashiers cheque and Se ding a representative etc?

G- they usually tell you they will give you more than the asking price. I can’t believe that scam still is attempted.

paid with paypal and had a truck there the next morning to pick it up, not as shady

wonder how seller/buyer protection works in that case.

from what I gathered there really is none unless you go through ebay, I’d have to look again to remember the exact reason

I paid the previous owner of my RS4 with a certified check. Cashiers check is (in theory) even more secure.

Did you do so sight unseen, with no negotiation?

I think people are missing the point of this discussion line lol. If you get a random full asking price offer for your car, with sketchy conditions around the identity of the buyer and third party ‘viewers’ and they promise super secure payment, GET SUSPICIOUS.

Nobody is questioning the validity of paypal or certified cheques.

Saki - context is everything, we can agree on that! I corresponded/negotiated with the owner for over a month, had the car PPI’d, and we were pretty comfortable with each other by the time the deal was completed.
