i didnt bail… u just didnt have tow straps for me… lol
What it do? How is your clutch holding up?
i hear a nice quick metal on metal squeal right when i engage a gear from a stop… other than that its great… lol
good to hear. Metal on Metal is a good thing sometimes. Not so much in your case. I wonder how Pete’s clutch is holding up. It still surprises me that he is able to go to the track with that clutch and not have any slipping issues.
im pretty sure he also has the updated version too
Weather conditions were far from ideal, but I decided to make 3 passes… My dads car is still having shifting issues after his 1st revision and running far from ideal. He did two passes- both 12.9@107… Hopefully GIAC will get him sorted, they’ve been on top of it so far so I don’t have any doubts it’ll be good soon.

Pete, Thanks for sharing… Most people wouldn’t post their suboptimal times… DA wasn’t too bad but not what you east coast guys are used to… That sucks that your dad’s car is still having issues… So GIAC has moved on to DSG tuning but can’t correct the issue that their motor tune is causing… That is interesting… Makes me wonder…
We just missed a big storm so pressure system and DA sucked compared to usual. Car was running good, my launches weren’t optimal but decent nonetheless…
GIAC has alot of DSG cars out there but it seems to only be my dads car and robs with the issues… The shifting issue now seems to be completely fixed but it just isn’t right. Not sure what it is but it’s off for sure. 107 trap is stock…
Thanks for posting. I will delete your 12.1 and put these up
Weird how much trouble giac is having with dsg.
Unfortunately we are into bad density altitude season. The amd rs4 just snuck in with that 11.3 @ 126 on a - 900 feet density day 2 weeks ago, and now they will be hard to catch since everyone will be positive DA.
Anyone hear from Arin about the 1740? He is quite excited about it on the r8. Just wondering what that the will do on the b8 cars, 3.0t and 4.2 both.
So the issue has improved from what it was? I know I posted the video of when I had issues and it sounded similar… Kind of weird that only a few are having the issue as it was affecting all DSG APR cars when it was discovered…
I don’t think it will be released for a few more months… Late Sept. would be perfect so I can install and get some good Oct. Nov. DA’s… DA at Thompson last night was 2800ish around 8pm… Couldn’t go last night anyway but hoping to get one under 2K for some baseline runs in the RS…
Kind of bummed I couldn’t make it yesterday, I really wanted to test this new revision out. All I can say is that my car is driving and shifting differently since I had to revision loaded, just don’t have any data to back it.
I’m very curious if Austin finds anything with your dads logs from last night.
I was gonna go last night, but was rained out.
Our DA’s are still good right now (-300 last night @8pm). The locals here joke that summer doesn’t start until July 5th (as it usually rains alongside the fireworks).
I ran 13 gallons of VP MS101 through the car this week in preparation (full ecu adaption). I will keep rolling around on race juice until I have a dry/cold night at the track.
I have a track day tomorrow at The Ridge Motorsport Park. If its dry at pacific raceways, I will swing by on my way home and make some passes (TnT at night). I want to do some Launch Control runs too.
That’s cool that you’re going back. Great DA out there.
Regarding adaptation, Arin told me that it takes only a few minutes on these cars so not an issue.
“Full” adaptation takes about four cold starts or a tank of gas.
Just saying what APR engineers said.
I understand, and I am quoting what my tuner has said:
From Austin:
“In a freshly flashed car, you will get one pull before the ECU starts to move around dramatically. When I dyno S4s, I will typically run the car 10 times or more after flashing to get a proper number. My statements are from experience of watching the numbers and data move around on OUR software. I can’t comment about how others do it as there are more than a few ways in the Simos ECUs.”
Interesting. I will dig up what APR said. then they can argue and you and I can stand back lol
Silentbob said exactly the opposite, after clearing the ECU, any further knock adaptation is more conservative. Fuel trims adjust very quickly. He and Austin already argued this one out.
I can attest from logging knock that it takes 10-15 km to fully switch the gas itself in the lines when switching octane.
