What are some must-do mods for the RS4?

Hi guys, I wanted to know what are some must-do mods for our cars that will make the driving experience more fun and exciting, even though it’s already super fun.

I’m specifically looking for non-power mods so no exhaust, DPs, tune, etc.

The first things that come to my mind are various mounts that can be replaced to firm up the drive train and reduce slop.

If I’m not mistaken, there are 4 different mounts that could be replaced: transmission mount, engine mount, snub mount, and differential mount. Would you guys recommend changing all of them? If I did change all 4 mounts at the same time would the difference be night and day? What should I expect after the install? I’m just worried that they will create excessive noise and vibration. I know various companies make these products including, stern, 034, and apikol. Which brand would you guys recommend for each of them?

What other mods do you guys think are almost essential for the car to increase the car’s driving dynamics without sacrificing comfort and daily drivability?

So u can do all mounts from JHM and 034
Also u can have apikol rear diff mount
Trio package shift from jhm
Sway bars VERY good :slight_smile: i have front n rear from hotchkis
And KWV3’s coils
And i have all of that:)

I’d do all mounts(torque, motor, transmission, rear differential and rear differential mount insert kit) and if you’re worried about NVH, just go with street/softer ones. Also, remember RS4s don’t have snub mount - that’s S4 specific, you have torque mount.

Sway Bars would be next, one of the greatest handling upgrades for the money well worth it. Like denrs4 said go with Hotchkis. I’d advise upgrading both front and rear, but if you’re not looking at tracking your car - only rear would suffice.

Short shifter would be a neat upgrade. I’d recommend JHM SS trio package.

B8.5 Flat bottom MFSW. Steering wheel is one mod you’ll always use when you drive your car - I guarantee it! When I upgraded to custom one on my B6 S4, I couldn’t get enough of it.

As far as mounts I’d go with either 034MS or Apikol, scratch Stern.

Why no power mods?

One thing that will help is knowing the mileage on the car. That helps give an idea on what might be needed Vs. What would be just a good mod.

Agree with justincredible regular and preventative maintenance before mods. Unless of course that has been taken care of already, then mod away ;D

Good suggestions would be

Fuel filter
Plugs and packs
Check the carbon
The oil separator
PCV system

Those are good starters

thanks!
just had all the fluids (except brake and clutch fluid) and all the filters in the car replaced.
The previous owner did carbon cleaning at an Audi dealer last year (not walnut shell method).

how do I know if my PCV system is bad? also what’s an oil separator? a fellow rs4 member mentioned oil catch can. is that it? what does it do exactly?

ok so I’ve checked out the mounts and looks like 034 transmission & torque mount, Apikol diff mount are the way to go. What about engine mount? It seems like Stern and 034 make engine mounts for the RS4. Which one would you recommend? Any other mounts that could be replaced?
