I don’t know if too many of you guys have seen the bare RS4 motor.

Its interesting to see. I’ll update more pictures when I get a chance. Interesting to see. look at the wings of these pistons. They really put lots of engineering into these motors to get the power out of it.

Duud40 had a pic of a new piston awhile back, crazy stuff… you can literally see the compression lol :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder what the PtV clearance is like, looks like there is a little dish on the intake side of the wing

the crazy thing is at TDC the entire combustion chamber is shaped kinda like a sphere since I bet those wings come close to the head… the shape probably helps to hold the 12.5:1 compression. Plus it looks like the wings would do a good job forcing the fuel up towards the spark plug, probably swirls really good with the injector on the side spraying during compression

Thanks for posting this picture. Really a great look at the internals of the RS4, some real engineering there indeed beem. It’d be great to talk to someone about the different approaches they used and ideas prior to selecting this exact profile for the piston head and other factors in the RS4 engine.
