what ever happened to the RS6 4.2 TT transplant into B7 RS4 in New England area?

Ah, my bad. I knew the rods were different on the old 4.2 timing belt motors, and I assumed it wasn’t an aluminum motor block at the time as well.

so. . … anyone ever done a turbo swap on a RS6? If they can get into the 11’s on stock motor/turbo/etc, what can be done with just a turbo swap, or does engine internals probably need more addressing at that point. Just curious if anyone has done more than MT6/IC/Meth/Tune/Racegas/exhaust.

those weights are off beem. They’re Euro only weights for stripped cars (i.e. no leather, no power anything…in other words cars that don’t exist)

B5 S4 = 3690
B6 S4 = 3820
B7 S4 = 3850
B7 RS4 = 3920
B8 S4 = 4010

*(these are all manual transmission north american spec with full tank of gas and all liquids etc)

The RS6 weight looks right. You showed me that once before.

fuck no I would think the stock motor would be good for 500 whp at least. It’s a forced induction RS car after all.

tune + piggies + catback = maybe 400-425 whp. They’re good to go plenty more. Marc/10secondS4/BBB was hitting one of his RS6s with a good sized nitrous shot last I heard.

stock engine can handle quite a bit of power… check out mtm, they seem to be the premier rs6 tuner.
They have a turbo upgrade kit… I think they use hybrid rs6 turbos though.
I have played with an mtm stage 3 setup… made 530wtq @ 3400 rpms on pump @ 23 psi, never got to finish it :frowning:

yeah tb 4.2 rods are a toss up, either 2.7t esch powdered metal or old 32v forged rods

my point exactly, the info online is very poor. I’d bet RS6 is mid 4000s

loba makes hybrid turbos, like 700whp/650wtq numbers on stock motors… the trans cant handle it though. Search for speedtrapped, iirc he has one with some bigger hair driers

Yea, wasn’t implying the RS6 was weak (and I’m sure a good bit more than 500whp out of stock motor), and I think it’s clear the RS line can be pushed quite a bit due to it’s over-engineering. Just was curious if the limits had really been explored or maybe what parts were shared in other platforms that were more known (or been transferred to other platforms). I know the Count had told me the TB 4.2 could handle 80-100hp per cylinder which is pretty awesome for stock internal V8 as his blowzilla 4.2 had stock internals with some S6/8 goodies to help flow.

I also think it’s awesome the amount of easy power on tap with the RS6 as well, just again asking what can be attained when “more” is asked without going into completely custom. Also seeing if the build mentioned by the OP was completely new ground or if it had ever been done before.

I guess the easiest “more” answer would just be a hypbrid/billet wheel with supporting/efficient mods and proper tuning. As mentioned, there are some weak spots, but as most RS cars, it’s overbuilt and well thought out for the most part.

you think? wow. I would have thought 4200 max. More like 4000.

check a road test (where they actually weigh the car)

4250 lbs

S6/S8 have forged rods v the normal 4.2s powdered metal, the counts A6 has an S8 motor so that may be part of that big power handling

rs6 avant…god damn that would be cool

funny a guy in the B8 s4 forum is in ingolstadt this week and said he has seen probably 10 S4 Avants for every S4 sedan he sees.

eurotech in nj has paul walkers old rs6 avant for sale at the shop with low miles. one of only a few(4 i think) in the country in great condition

Pretty sure MTM has upgraded turbos for the rs6. I know they also have ported heads, bigger IC’s and a whole bunch of other stuff. I remember a couple years ago some guy in Florida was selling his full MTM rs6 for 45k. I think there’s only a couple of those in the US

phil from detailers domain had a full stage 3 dahlback rs6 and that thing was a fucking monster the couple of times i drove it

Found this in the latest issue of Eurotuner

what a weird build

can’t wait to see JHM and TTS push the RS4 4.2 FSI with their Cfuge blowers and see who comes out on top

So far this swap car has a huge mountain to climb with that rather easy 11.7 @ 124…just wondering what’s going to happen.

I wonder what the car’s weight distribution will be after this. 63/37 or so?

nice update

Wow, crazy his last name is only 2 letters off of my own.

Also, kinda weird seeing the crossover so far back and secondly even why on a turbo’d application. I thought i was usually just get it out as fast as possible for turbo’s?

And man, straight cut gears sound nasty, but usually are pretty damn loud. Dunno I’d want to deal with that for DD, but will put more power down.

I like that they even mention the dragstrip. Shows they aren’t trying to build a dyno queen.
