I just wondered if anyone else thinks that the average stock ‘quick car’ is now quicker or not than it used to be.
Up until 2012 I sort of always thought anything under 7 seconds 0-60 was a pretty darn fast car compared to most, anything under 6 secs was very quick, and under 5seconds/mid/low 4’s we’re getting silly quick -and I wonder how this all translates to practical usage on the road.
Obviously there are plenty of cars that will do under 4 seconds now, but I would say there is a real drop off when it comes to this level of performance as stock (RS6 etc).
your thoguhts.
Especially since the power required is geometric. For example to take a 2 ton mid 2 sec car into the 1’s 500hp will need to be added. However, to drop a full sec from 6s to 5s only 80hp is needed, or 10s to 9s 20hp.
